I have Kiwis and Kopas and like them (2 of each). There is a gap in the Spyderco line between knives of this size and the Delica, and I find the Delica handle a bit long. I have a Rookie, but I would like to see knives with slightly smaller blades and shorter handles than the Delica in the lineup, much as those that are there in the Byrd line.

I would prefer to get knives in VG10 and with nicer fit and finish than Byrds.

If Spyderco sold a line of knives of similar size to some of the Byrd models, I would buy them. I'd really like to see some knives with blades of 2 3/4" or 2 5/8" blades and lockbacks, with smaller handles than the Delica. It certainly can be done. I might look at liner locks...

What of other forum members - what do you think?

Check out the Dragonfly. VG-10 steel in SS, FRN, or G-10 handle material. I'm down for some smaller blades.

I'd rather see variants of the Para 2 when it comes out, as well as more Sage, Manix 2, and others. There are plenty of models out there that deserve a S90V sprint ;)

I live in a place with blade size restrictions. There are lots of folk in the same position, and I wouldn't bring any of my "large" knives with me to work.
In flatlands, "big" knives are weapons, and you don't want weapons in your pocket around here.
Smaller knives are also pocket friendly. While I like the Kopa, I'd also like something bigger - with a longer blade, but smaller than the Delica.

Try to the dragonfly or the rookie.

He has a Rookie, first thing he said.

What about the new UK Penknives that are on the way? I'm not sure what the blade restrictions are in your area, but this line was created specifically for those in non blade friendly areas.

+1 on the UKPK, and they are incorporating carpenter steel into the FRN lightweight models.

Check out the new Ed Schempp C141 Balance in the mid-year catlog supplement. I have one on preorder myself and this will be the very first time I've owned a knife with this blade profile. Page 9 of the 2010 single page supplement. http://spyderco.com/catalog/download.php

There are too many small Spydercos... Let's start seeing some more 4"+ knives. I'm liking the Resilience that should be coming out soon.

phoenix, lava, spin, co-pilot...there's a whole slew of spydies with shorter blades and a variety of awesome locks already. scoop 'em up!

My next Spyder is a G10 Dragon Fly 2 1/4 inch blade 1 7/8 edge. It has great ergs for its size. That is the smallest knife I can tolerate.

Seriously? Spyderco already has a mind boggling assortment of knives in production in a mind boggling assortment of sizes.

THe native is smaller than the delica isn't it?
How about the caly3? Its a great size.

The D4 handle is as small as I'm comfortable using so I'd prefer not to see much more smaller knives. My preference is for knives with blades in the 2.5"-3.5" range with "full-size" handles.

Hi Arty,

We do have a "hole" in the 2-3/4" size blade. We're working on a couple of Spyderco's and a byrd in that range.
