I sold a knife to this member… Burwabit Burwabit . It was lost for a long time. I issued a refund as soon as he was done waiting. Original sale price $200

I eventually got a refund from the USPS. ($100 basic insurance and $10 shipping)

Fast forward it was delivered to him a couple days ago. He refuses to return the knife and is offering me less than half price.

$200 is the original sale
$200 refunded
$110 from insurance USPS
$90 is what he says he owes me (to make me whole)
Refuses to return my knife.

I understand the knife was lost, but I refunded funds as soon as he asked. I ask him to return the knife and now he refuses too. Why does he get a huge discount???
Help?

Sounds to me like he should be avoided. I have met some really good guys through dealings on here but sounds like he is not one of them and just trying to get the knife at a crazy price. Why would he be acting like that when you refunded him immediately? People like that ruin stuff for everyone.

We kept up some communication about the shipping
Well now that he has that info ,in his mind ,weather right or wrong,he sees if he pays you 200 now you got $310 total for the knife . I'm not saying he is right or wrong nor you but at this point if the knife is in his posession ,getting the $90 out of him does " square you up " ,and maybe you should be OK with that ,just sayin

Monofletch Monofletch If you get the same $200 we agreed on ($110 from USPS and $90 from me), how are you wronged? Help me understand.

The knife finally showed up at 2 months. Yes I’m paying less than original, but I waited an eternity.

I think the OP is being emotional. He didn’t ask for money when the knife was delivered… I offered to make up the difference to be friendly. Now he wants me to send it back and keep the $100 USPS paid him.

This is a weird situation . If it were me I'd be happy with the USPS $110 and the $90 ,getting me " squared up " . But just me ,my $.02

That’s just a dick move on your part. My opinion. But hey, karma comes around.

OK LOL ,holding court on the street ,lol . I have appointed myself judge & am ready to rule
Since both parties were inconvenienced ,the buyer is hereby ordere to pay $145 to the seller . Both buyer and seller will therefore be splitting the USPS compensation.
Although not asked ,but I have ruled LOL

Kinda hard to avoid him if he has the OP's knife and paid $0

Does the USPS want their money back? Can you take the payment for a lost item that isn't lost?
That’s my wonder too. But that’s between me and the USPS. I can’t see that is has anything to do with the buyer since he was FULLY REFUNDED as soon as he said he didn’t want to wait any longer. So he’s “made whole”

If you guys go this route you're both ahead by $55

It's simple: the buyer has two choices: (1) send the knife back or (2) refund the refund. If he doesn't, he's a crook.

What the OP does with USPS is his business only.
