stop talking people! its not allowed!

It has been the policy not to spot auctions or sales on here, but I think the mods need to discuss this a little further since we can't do any chatting or discussion in the sale area. Were he to have stated his original post differnetly it might have been another story. For those who didn';t get to see what his original post said, you should not jump to conclusions. Now if he were to have worded his post thusly:

Hey guys there are a couple of blades over on the exchange that I have a question on, or how rare is this one, etc.

That is not what was done, it was not a discussion that was initiated, it was hey there X and Y for sale in the exchange, better get them while you can. That is not discussion, Ducci and some others where the source of the discussion. Discussion is fine with me, but it is a discussion you must begin with your thread, not a spot for a sale and then maybe subsequent posters come along with the meat of a discussion. I hope that makes sense.

Well, you see they're endangered. Much higher resale value. Even comes with the sought-after bird-beak handle.

HUH???

So does this mean those "Game Wardens at the Company Store" posts are verboten too?

Since the Co. Store and Busse Combat are intimately related, I don't think that is a problem, but that is my feeling and not a concensus of Moderators views.

Where are these Busse forum rules? I just cant seem to find them. The only sticky I see at the top is ThatMguys sticky about the jerkit smiley.

It does make sense, and that is the clarification we needed. Thanks.

There is a difference between asking a question about a knife sale and stating that there is a knife for sale.

I'm sure that questions are welcome (unless it is a question like "is that really a Busse SHSH for sale on the for sale forums, follow this link to my sale to see ;) ).

:D:D

hey, There Is A Birds Beak Shsh On Ebay For A Buy It Now Price Of $300, Right Now!!!

what you guys have this forum on your blackberry so you don't miss out or something? That was too quick.

We've gotten along this long without over "legislating" the activity on this forum. There is stuff that goes here that wouldn't go in other forums. If we need to start making a rules sticky I think it might kill the spirit of the forum and we don't want to do that. Auction spotting is prohibited everywhere on BF (I am pretty sure I am right about that) and I think it is a logical extension that spotting sales by a third party elsewhere, even if it is an item for sale here, would also not be cool. Now, as I said before there is a difference between saying, "Hey looky here, there are X and Y for sale in the exchange!" and "Can someone verify the rarity of X that is currently for sale on the exchange" or "Does any one know if the features on X for sale in the exchange where custom or factory options?" As some may know it is not that hard to make a alter ego on here and if we just let folks spot a sale here, then why wouldn't they make a fake ID and spot every one of their sales over there? Going the direction we are going wouldn't prevent someone from starting discussions about their sale thus generating interest, but there would be a discussion regardless and I think we are all smart enough that we'd figure out the one guy was always posting about the same guys for sale threads and he'd get busted eventually. So, I ask all of you guys in all seriousness, do we really need to put a sticky at the top telling you we don't want sale spotting of third party sales in this forum?

I would like a clarification on the auction spotting prohibition. Is is OK to link to a closed/completed auction for reference or discussion purposes? To save the moderators work, it would make sense to mention in the post that the auction is over.

As some have nailed, it is precisely the wording choice that got that post edited.

Had he said "is that price for real", "is it a rare one", "anyone know anything about it", would have been no problem.

As it was, it got what it got.

There was no lead to discussion, just stated that there was a thread with 2 models, and that "they won't last long".

How, without more help (words, roll-eyes smilie, etc.), is anyone supposed to know the intent?

Is it a shill post, helping a friend/relative? Dunno, can't tell.

We mods can only go by what we see. We are not mindreaders, so if saracasm is intended, give us a clue here guys.

That is the main problem with written words. Unless some overt clue is provided, they have to be taken at face value. If misinterpreted, who is at fault?

Also, mocking mod decisons is a sure way to experience the plank...;)

(p.s. I agree, wanna discuss a CLOSED auction? State it is closed in your post, not later after any consequences.... )

My understanding is that a link to a closed auction is okay, and while this may be a little gray, that discussion of a open auction may also be permitted as long as there is no link and there is not any discussion on where the auction is. (also that the person that has an item for auction is not the one starting the discussion)

(ie. I saw an auction that was described as a BM in A2, is this for real?)

I hope I am not overstepping my bounds here.
