Sale Spotting not allowed

I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but I just went over to the FAQs and it specifically states "no auction spotting." The Busse Forum is a pretty tight group with a lot of regulars. With the occasional slip up, we adhere to the no auction spotting rule, I just can't find a rule anywhere that states we can't talk about items for sale here on bladeforums. We talk about Busse Combat knives for sale and the BCS items coming up for sale. Countless posts have come up on things in the exchange, I see it as part of the fun and looking out for one another. Please don't take this out of context, but I did read DOLs original post and was surprised he got the edited response he did as "Sale spotting not cool. People are intelligent enough to find these themselves." It just seemed a little harsh. These are the rules I just went through below. I guess everone would just like clarification as to exactly what we can and can't do posted in the FAQ section. It seemed clear, but I guess it isn't.

(p.s. I agree, wanna discuss a CLOSED auction? State it is closed in your post, not later after any consequences.... )

Thanks, Mike. After all this discussion, it seems pretty clear what one can and cannot do regarding sale posts and auction spotting.

There was no lead to discussion,

This was the problem, nothing else.

By all means, discuss sale posts, just don't leave it up to someone to decypher your intent (discussion vs leading others to what could be a sale that you have some stake in).

These two are pertinent in this case I think.

We let a ton of posts that have absolutely no merit go in here, depending on who's judgement you are using. Someone coming here might wonder what the heck cigars, booze and whatever else have to do with Busse knives. It is because we are a close group that we aren't really restricted from off topic chat about whatever we want. When it comes to knives we are posting good and useful stuff for the most part. If we have to get restrictive just so we don't have to explain ourselves every now and then, what sense is there in that? Bottom line, don't spot third party sales on the exchange or any other forum here. If you want to bring the item to peoples attention, be smart about it. If DOL had put a question in his post as I have given examples in several of my posts above and on the other page, no one would have said a thing. Third party sales are different than BCS. Skunk is operating under the auspices of Jerry, that doesn't make the Co. Store 3rd party in my book and letting us know there is new stuff there is alright in my book. Other wise Skunk couldn't say he has new stuff coming or give us those posts with twisted clues in them. Do we need to put it in a sticky at the top? Goodness, I hope not. Then where would we put the ganza go sticky? :D (I know this sounds preachy coming off and that is not the tone I wish to impart. I am asking so that we don't drag this out any more than it needs to be and before any gets really uptight.)

Exactly, I concur.

I see exactly what you are talking about and it makes perfect sense. Thanks!

If you go back far enough, you'd have seen it before, it just doesn't happen often.
yes obviously there are differnet rules for different people here Compnay Store spotting happens all the time and there are several other Spotting going on in this thread but no EDITS

You would be wise to go back and read the responses in this thread.

After that, if you are still having trouble understanding the actions, feel free to PM me.

I'll say it again, the Co. Store is not third party! Skunk operates it under the auspices of Jerry and it would be like telling Jerry he can't post about new blades oe like saying one of us can't mention Jerry has a new blade offering, so that's all there is to that. Now you cite posts by folks who made a similar post like yours and perhaps we need to go back and look at them. Mike and I can't see every thing every where at all times. I haven't seen any spotting other than Co. Store stuff going on, but if I missed one, bring it to our attention.

Its a done deal lesson learned sorry for trying to help another Busse fan find a knife he mite be looking for it wont happen again:D nice slam dunk
