Sales forum

I have bought sold or traded on here a lot, and after specifically posting "no trades", Or "lowball offers will be ignored", or "I am only looking for the following nothing else", your going to have someone lowball you , your going to have someone offer you a trade , and some people are gonna try to lowball you in a trade, and I used to say thanks , but no thanks , but now after it is in my threads "no trades" or "lowball offers will be ignored", guess what, I'm going to ignore them , sorry but It's a respect thing with me, If I have a knife listed for a price that you believe is too high then tell me and we can negotiate, but sending me an email offering me 60% of my asking price with nothing but , "Hey bro , $75 shipped for the xxx" I'm not going to respond to you , now If you send me an email and say , Hey I'm interested in xxx knife , but I think your asking too much is there anyway we can work something out, then I'll talk to you.

As far as the removing prices, I do it to show the knife is sold , and also that number is between me and the buyer, If someone wants to know what he paid then they can ask they buyer, Also I do it for the same reasons as post #10 too.

If prices remain and the post is marked sold this in no way means that the subject knife sold at that price asked, just that it sold.

I am ambivalent as to whether prices remain or not, I was merely pointing out a fact of the marketplace.

Leaving prices helps the seller and the buyer. I have a rare knife that I underpaid greatly for. If I want to sell said knife it's nice to see what the market is presenting. For the record, don't deal with private transactions if the thought of negotiation irks you so much that you start scream-crying at your monitor. I agree with the rule situation though. If you want to deal with the exchange, buy a membership and follow the rules.

I agree that it would be nice to get a response...sadly that doesn't always happen. I also just had a case of being in trade talks with someone on the forum for part of an evening and then waking up the next morning to find he had listed and sold his end of the trade without even the courtesy of a heads-up......or a closing of our negotiations!!

Let's try to be respectful here, posts moved offline.

The point of leaving the price up is to establish a market value. If there were 10 that sold for $50 in the same condition as one you see selling for $100, then buyers should be allowed to know that the market price is around $50 and should be allowed to politely inform the seller (key is POLITELY). If I am selling something and people let me know that my price is too high, then the market decided I was asking too much and I either have to suck it up and know the sale is unlikely, or adjust my price accordingly.

I cannot stand seeing almost every sale have the price edited out. I can understand not leaving it if you put a low price for quick sale, but if your price is around the standard there is little point in editing it out.

Market Price is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Some people here might discount knives below what others list them at for a quicker sale or because they want to give a good deal. And it's not like this is the only place on the internet you can sell knives, check out eBay or other BST sites to see what similar knives are going for there. It doesn't matter what other people have paid for it, all that matters is what the buyer is willing to pay for it. Just because some people are buying a knife for $50 doesn't mean that other's won't pay $100 for it.

Heck, you see this all the time with LE ZT's. Sold from the knife stores for $400 and flipped the next day for $1000. Markets fluctuate.

Thank you Invective. My statement stands. Leaving the price in the auction just guarantees that there'll be people who will either expect you to sell YOUR example of a knife that sold for $50 also for $50, or else give you hassle for not selling it for that price. I am not even a current seller, but could be at some point, and frankly, if I'm selling a knife, it will be what I think is a fair price based on rarity and will be backed up with research. It will have nothing to do with what I've seen that particular knife sell for previously. Plenty of people sell in the Exchange at a low price, just to get a knife off their hands. I respect that, and have taken advantage of that a few times. And yes, I have emailed once or twice asking if a price was negotiable. But I usually do not lowball people, because that's disrespectful in my eyes.

Anyway, it's a moot point. People aren't going to stop editing out their prices until a new rule to that effect is passed.

I understand your point but it's just not gonna happen people have been complaining long before you came here. I'm not only gonna delete my prices but the whole thread pictures everything then I'm gonna lock it otherwise I'd be getting offers for stuff that's long gone.
