Love it.
I have seen more than a few of these over the years. I would vote this as my favorite from an aesthetic stand point.
I have always wondered if the sparring bar limits the cut in a bigger target. I feel like the step/shoulder might cause drag in a target like a mat, or pig (person analogue).
Joe, have you ever cut with one?
I always enjoy your videos, from fishing, to bows, to knives and sheaths.
Thanks for sharing.
(I keep hoping to hear that Sam's missing dagger pops up!)
Big
Thank you for the kind words
I like to speak of things I like and luckily there are other wackos like me that like the same stuff

As for the sparing bar I can only speculate
I would think do to this knives keen edge and awesome blade geometry due to the radical distal taper etc that once the three inches of blade sailed thru its target the small step of the guard would not imped to much
I do believe these sparing bars where more of a statement than a true advantage
It would make some sense in a time of hand to hand combat where someone might be swing a saber or thrusting a bayoneted rifle at you
Plus it would make for a neat part of a blade to drive tent pegs etc and even to baton against
Who knows the real truth and that is why the MUSSO Bowies legend has endured
