The straight temper line at the border of the wavy damascus that sandwiched the core is just neatly done

Jerid .. what is the type of steel you used as the core of the knife?

Hi Mohd,
The core steel is 1095. I wish I could say I planned to have the hamon where it is but it just happened to land there. I was very pleased when I etched it. Thanks for the compliment.
Cheers,
Jerid

Wait a sec, are the outer layers, the clad,... are they damascus or just straight 1081? And I've never heard of 1081... is that the same as 1080? The same as 1018?

Heckuva knife! The junction between the steels reminds you of a hamon, but with sharper corners... more jagged, more electric. Very cool.

Sorry .. the other day I simply thought that it is a damascus when my old eyes saw it .. after 2nd look I think it might be plain 1081/1018/1080.

And I've never heard of 1081... is that the same as 1080? The same as 1018?
I used to read somewhere whereby 1018 is simply mistakenly typed as 1081 .. just my 2 cents opinion!

Let's wait for Jerid to confirm it.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

I made a typo on the steel.. it is 1018 (mild steel).. I corrected the original post.
