I'm sure the sword movements could be translated using the longer khukuris but knife randori seems like it would be more effective to learn. As for firearms I'm not really a big fan of them. Even though Terry tries to get me to go shooting with him.
Hey dont start planning a wedding yet!!!

David,

I wonder what differences there are between the two aikido groups. I wish I had horses too!! I have to settle with riding other peoples horses. After 10 years of not riding you may want to work on that before you try it with a weapon!

Well I guess I'd better get ready for class... Saturday afternoon and I have to go study english... yuck!

Agreed and khukuris started it so it's got everything to do with khukuris.

The basis of Aikido is full body movement. Anyone who knows how to swing a GRS knows about full body movement. ;) If you are to effectively use a sword the movements are pretty much the same.

Pardon the short entry, I just got back from two four-hour sessions of weapon work. I need a bath, some sleep, and some time to cry. :(
But it is a happy :( , cause I have learned alot today.

What have I learned? How disarm a sword wielding attacker...I also learned that trial and error = outch.

P.S. Sombody buy that freaking UBE!

It is the wonderful Freshman composition 1. Four hours of it!!!! 8 week courses are not fun. The prof. wont let us use Okie english in the class. Oh well...
I know I'm right about the riding. Sometimes its hard to just stay on the horse and keep it going in the right direction without trying to mess with a Naginata too. I can sympathize with your pain Dave... I'm dreading going back to Aikido after missing a week of classes. My instructor always makes me do more when I miss. But its all good!:) ;)

When you learn to appreciate the English language, you'll probably be ready to buy a freezer too. :D

Yep,
I took it too Jen. Luckily I got a grad student who let us write about anything and passed you with an A if you showed that you tried and that you improved over the semester.
Sorry for the hard class, I have a Business Law class that is not kind to me...I have always been in favor by trial by fate, or just a craps shoot...but that is me. ;) :p :D

Dave
The class isnt hard... just alot of info in a very short time. I enjoy writing so its not a big deal. Right now the worst class I have American Federal Government... And thats just becuase the prof is so freakin boring!!!!! Its a challenge just to stay awake and listen to him. What are you majoring in... or have you decided yet?
Jenn

Yep you would be correct about that. I just haven't decided which area I want to work in... Exotics (reptiles and creepy crawlies) or horses

Jenn,
You have mail. ;)
Reptiles...or Horses....I'd choose the Large Mammal degree, but whatever you want. As my father says "Do what you want, just pass the classes... with a good grade". :D

I wish just forgetting the grades worked. It would make college a whole lot more fun.

Uncle,
I remember you once saying, "If I met myself earlier in life I know I would not like myself". I know exactly how you feel. I have learned and changed so much over the past few years it is remarkable. I continue to learn and continue to change, and I too know that if I met myself even a year ago I would probably not like myself.

I agree about the learning and not so much the grades...heyl, MIT has one of the highest suicide/drug use rates among colleges in the US. Intresting how intelligence and knowledge do not go hand in hand.

I think she will probably specialize in primates that way we won't have to carry medical insurance for Terry & the kids.;) :p ;)

I dont have to specialize in primate care to take care of Terry. All I have to know how to do is suture wounds. Thats the same in any animal!:D
