SANRENMU Folding Knife

I have a couple of 710s and an Enlan EL-01. They are great for what they are. If you don't mind the wait on shipping you can buy one or two or more, try em or hell, give them away if you don't like them. For the price they are hard to beat for beaters and EDC tasks. Are there better knives? Yes. If you can find a comparable USA made piece for the same price I would buy it. You can't. Yes some are copies and some are not. I've seen a lot of knives that could be labeled copies.

I like the looks of the Enlan. I noticed them on ebay for a couple of cents under $20 including postage. Maybe I can find them cheaper in time.

Most of their designs are their own. Yes, the 710 looks somewhat like a Sebenza and the 702 like a certain Klotzli. They also offer some knives which you can buy rebranded as western brands over here, for example the Buck Nobleman, or a certain Böker Magnum, or an entry level Fox, etc.

In any case, the 763 and 738 have no western equivalent, and they are both very convincing, even sceptics could be impressed.

I recently noticed that a certain Dutch webshop sells a series of so called Eden Quality knives and several of those knives look exactly the same as some Sanrenmu branded knives. I think several brands select a number of Sanrenmu knives and put their own logo on them.

Yes the "Eden Quality" knives are a selection of rebranded Sanrenmu products. I discuss a few other ones in my video #106 (linked above).
In addition they do make some entry level knives for Spyderco, and likely for other companies as well.
Concerning Spyderco, this would mean that 1 or more knives of the Tenacious family, and/or one ore more Byrd knives are made by SRM. I think that everyone will agree that these are good products for the price.

more than just the 738

I have a 763 and an 939, and both are clearly original designs

there's one that looks similar to a sebenza, but that's about it.

I have two of them, the 710. Nice little knife that begs to be modified a bit, which I did on one of them. Put a crown on the blade and changed the lines of the top of the blade, making it smoother. Between the 710 and the 738, I much prefer the 738.

And of course lots of people make ones that are very similar to a sebenza, including A.G. Russell and Bradley

Why do you prefer the 738 over the 710? I have never seen either so am curious.
Thanks,

I am guessing they make the spyderco zh214 since it sells on the same website as the SRM's and ships from the same place.

That's just a webshop, like saying that everything sold by Knifecenter is made by one factory. There are several knife factories in that giant country.

Speaking for myself, the 710 is a decent and sturdy low budget utility knife. The 763 also has that role but looks original, and you can open bottles with caps with it. The 738 however is a remarkably refined modern gentlemen knife, more for lighter chores, it feels more upmarket than the 710. So, preference is likely linked to your main usage of it.

Thanks, Dagon. I have a 710 on order. I am carrying a Kershaw OSO Sweet. Note that I am cheap about knives.
I enjoyed your reviews.

This must be why scumbag companies like Buck and Spyderco use them.

Fail again, Rat.

Make your point about the knife. If you are not going to post with respect in here. Take it to W&C.

I like the carbon fiber scales on the 738. Also, its shape just feels better in my hand. They are very different; the 710 is a frame lock while the 738 has an anodized liner lock. Also it's a bit smaller, if memory serves, and looks very much a gentleman's knife.

Folderguy and Dagon,
I received the 719 today along with an Ontario RAT1.
I recently bought a Kershaw Whirlwind for my son in law, who cuts wire with his knives, and a Kershaw OSO Sweet for myself as EDC.

The 710 is an OK knife, and a bargain, but i do not like it nearly as well as my OSO Sweet.
I don't like the RAT1. It is heavy and the liner lock is very stiff and difficult to release. If I used in much in a day my thumb or finger would get sore. It appears that it would be a very sturdy knife for survival, but I would rather have a sturdy fixed blade for that purpose. In addition there is a post that a new RAT 1 broke.

Overall I much prefer the two Kershaws to these two new knives. I prefer the Whirlwind to the OSO Sweet, but do like the OSOS well enough so that I do not plan to replace it.

Regards,
Jerry

I can't seem to edit my post and correct the disignation of the Sanrenmu knife which is a 710 and not a 719.
