Santa Barbara Premier Art Showcase Review

wow, what a great read.
Thanks!

As a newbie to the knife world, I wish the custom makers that participate in/on bladeforums would have a card folded on thier table with their avatar or BF name on it so I could recognize them and identify them at least through this venue. I myself wish I could some how have a Bladeforum shirt that says, hey look it is CJ65. I enjoyed the displays, complimented the artist/craftsmen and thanked them when they offered me to handle their knives. I felt the urge to ask, "Are you on Bladeforums? What is your Forum name?" However, I wanted to avoid looking like a dolt, so I refrained. The highlight for me at the Pasadena show, was signing up for the So Cal blade knife collector club, and as I was filling out my application, right next to me was the one and only Bernard Levine....He had a name tag on! Wow, I thought that was just great. I just so happened to have a knife I wanted him to look at but struggled with getting a good photo. Now, I just had to hand it to him.... How cool was that?...He is truly a nice guy, very approachable. Great review thanks! Funny about the service at Fess Parker.....I just got through helping install irrigation controllers at that site, and marveled at the lobby entrance, as well as the prime real estate. What a shame their service is ho hum.

Thanks Steve. I really wish I could have made it earlier.

Great Review STeven. Nice to see the photo of the LF piece made for Phil L. That is again and as usual a great knife by a great maker. We are going to have to get you to take photos though lol. Nice to see a review of a show finally this year after so little being said other than some nice info from Oregon. Thank very much for your efforts.

Great review STeven. That Fuegen knife is just sick, man!!! I keep telling myself that I eventually want to make a San Francisco style knife and then I see something like that and go off into the corner and mope:D

As usual, excellent review. Thank you much, STeven.:thumbup:

Thanks Joe. I actually did TWO interviews, Harvey Dean as well. That one is already written up, just needs to be e-mailed to Bob....will finish the S.R. Johnson interview write up tomorrow.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Thanks for the detailed show review STeven! Enjoyable, straight up and fun read.

Smiled when I saw you bought the Mrs. one of Rick's silver bracelets (cuff?). I got one for my wife last year and she loves it.

Great to hear Scott is up and about!!!

That was a great read. Thanks for sharing the show with us.

Yet another reason why I insist on using my full real name on all forums

Thanks Steven for the VERY thorough review. That Fuegen SF Bowie is absolutely amazing and the sheath demonstrates why I feel he makes some of the finest sheaths in the world.

In regard to Steven's interviews, the CKCA will be featuring in depth interviews on our website with noted folks in the custom knife world. These interviews will be more focused towards things you didn't know about these makers, collectors, dealers etc.

Steve Johnson (a CKCA maker member) is going to be up first.

Steven That was a excellent review and what a great line up of makers. Thanks See you at blade.

This is one of the best reviews yet.

I am saddened to hear about some of the makers who didn't sell well/out.

In my opinion Alan E is one of the most technically proficient tactical folder makers. I just wish he would make some real tactical folders, the dressy-tactical doesn't work for me.

Ernie E is one of the nicest guys in the industry.

I would love to see pics of the Newton Loveless styles.
