Who else would like to see a Swamp RAT version of the SAR4, I'd say at around $200.00.

Like this one. ;)

And the CG will be waaaaaay less!

The LE??? Infi???? For less than $200 hmmmmm.....

LOL

No news.

I'm gonna pass. For several reasons. First, I hate mudder handles. Love Res-C. Mudder makes it. . . hard and slippery is the best way to describe it. VERY different than what I thought a Res-C mudder would feel like.

Second, a blade that big is being underutilized with a mudder handle. I think the Scrapper4 was a perfect size for the mudder. Maybe not the max size, but danged close to it. While this blade is only 1" longer, it's a much LARGER blade. (I could be missing something. But it just looks all wrong.)

Third, the choil. What is UP with that??? I know it's a SY trademark sorta thing, but DANG. A 5" blade with a 4" choil???

The combo of the mudder and choil is gonna make that blade about 6' too far from your hand in most applications. And choking up is making a HUGE distance between your first and middle finger in a grip that size.

I could be all wet, but softening the Res-C and making that choil miniscule woulda gone a long way.

This can be said - it'll be a veritable bargain for those who like the design. I love the blade shape. And SR101 is a great steel/steal. Esp. at the likely price of $100-120 for the CG model.

Ok, I will be the first to raise my hand and ask, "where did that pic come from?" Maybe I'm just slow (or more accurately, maybe it's because I'm slow), but I have not seen it before and I can't seem to find it any place else. I will say though that I do not at all care for that choil, which by itself is enough to keep me away.

I see your point Dennis. With that handle, it puts your hand, normally about an inch back from the start of the blade. Then another inch of choil. It is a waste of good steel in a 5" blade. It doesn't seem very well thought out. Still, I like the blade shape, and I love me some SR101!:D

My decision to buy will be dependent on the price... cuz I'll be doing some mods on this one. First, I'll strip her nekked... then, the thumb ramp will go, and I will grind down that 'hilt'. I've never re-handled a knife, but this one would be a good candidate. I'd move it forward to close the gap between hand and usable edge. Oh... then I'd convex that sucker and beat the crap out of it.

It is also possible that I have too much time on my hands... ;):D

Rehandling could be interesting. I've seen some rehandling of Res-C projects before. VERY attractive.

If I was handy, I'd consider it. I'm not even close. LOL

I don't like the mudder handles either. I was thinking about a SAR4 just like the Busse SAR4 in SR101. (Of course it wouldn't have the talon hole). They should be able to sell this for around $200.00 or less.

Someone has got put in a good word for this blade! Although I tend to like the plain res-c more, the mudder has grown on me. I have a SS4 which is my edc now, and besides getting used to it, I had to wash the handle in soapy water. Although it was new and the blade was sterile, it must have been handled and felt a little slick. I love it now.

I like the choils too; I like being able to choke up for finer work. I'm getting a CG for sure and will wait and see that the LE material is and what the price is. On the Scrap Yard forum, we are all thinking this will be the RMD with mudders!

Not going to happen unfortunately. Why would Jerry want to sell it for less when he can sell it for $400. We can hope for a CG version and that it'll be priced accordingly.

You know that Swamp Rat did come out with a SAR right?

I like the Res-C Mudder grips on the 2 knives I have them on, the SS4 (INFI) and the Mudpuppy LE (154CM.) I don't think they would attract me to a larger knife but I can find no fault with them on these two.

ahhhh that handle...someday a blade with that handle...maybe the safari skinner or better yet, the rat hunter
