If you ever get in a combat situation armed with only a knife, something went terribly wrong. At that point survival is your goal, if you are only worried about breaking a knife when you stab a rib, that's silly, if you have to stab more than one or two soldiers, someone is going to show up with a gun.
Escape and evasion or whatever they call it these days would be my concern, then you want a knife that can act as a shovel or chop concrete if it has to. This is where a Busse excels, they are knives designed to do ordinary knife tasks but due to their construction they can do things that would break most knives.
If I was looking for a knife to use as a weapon I would want a thin light weight knife. Knife fights usually end pretty quickly after the first good cut, cutting first and cutting deep are the best ways to win. A thin knife will slash better and penetrate deeper than a thick knife and it's quicker in the hand. A Boney Active Duty or Cultellus is probably as close as Busse gets to that kind of knife. A Scotch Dispenser might be a good one but I'm not sure.
Another vote for either the Satin Jack or Jack Hammer. I don't think you would be disappointed with either knife.
I would also suggest you look at the Fehrman First Strike. It has a 7 inch clip point blade, great ergos on the handle, and CMP3.
Really I'd be happy with any of these 3 in the circumstances that you describe.
I camped and hiked with the Falkniven A1 for several years, and it served me well.
However, that said, after one weekend trip a couple of years ago, I loaned out my knife to one of my buddies (who apparently used it to break apart some crates with nails or something). Naturally, when I got it back I noticed several chips (not rolls) in the blade. To make a long story short I got a Swamp Rat, then a Busse, then another, etc. When I got my Busse CGFBM when they first came out last year, I decided to whack it into a concrete block along with the A1, to compare their "chip resistance." In hindsight, should've taken pictures. The A1 chipped out, but the Busse only rolled slightly. So I sharpened up my A1 and gave it to my brother![]()
IMNHO, you need to pick the proper steel for the application and then the design. If I had to choose between laminated VG-10 and INFI in the applications you've described, I'd go with INFI any day. In my experience, INFI won't chip out (better edge holding/wear resistance), but the toughness of the two is comparable (arguably INFI is tougher as well, but I have never pushed either knife extremely enough to judge the difference).
The following sites have proven useful for me, even though their knife-testing methodologies have been received in some circles with scorn:

Best of luck with your decision.
The Jack Hammer is going to be $267 in the upcoming 'ganzaa. If you want to get one, read all of the instructions as soon as they are posted and make sure that you send your order as soon as you see the go post, they will probably sell out, there are a lot of fast people who want these knives, don't get left out in the cold.I hope it will never comes to that...but just in case to have to use a knife to neutralize my oponent. Ofcourse, you aim for the neck or other soft, vital part of body at first, trying to avoid bones and such. And to judge of what I've read so far about INFI, the ribs and other bones are not a problem for INFI blade/tip. INFI is new for me. On swedish forums I only found one (1) guy that has Busse's blades. And he is collector, not user...
So far SJ and JH seem to be good choice regarding to blade lenght and wight. Any one who knows what the pricing will be for JH?

This is the only subforum where I posted same question asking for recomendation and got tons of answers. That itself says something about people here.
but I'm surprised that you feel you didn't get any answers or suggestions in other places. There was a lot of good info in the Fehrman thread.
