Say Hello To The D-Guard Battle Mistress!!!!. . . In Battle Grade!!!

I'm worrying that the handle on this one might be too small for me. Looks more like a straight handle than a fusion handle. The Battle Saw handle is really close to being too small for my hand.

Jerry, what is the width of the handle inside of the D-guard? Is it larger or smaller than the Battle Saw? Thanks Boss!!!

ETA - I'm estimating 3 3/8" to 3 1/2" based on the posted picture, but that seems pretty small (and smaller than the Battle Saw). TIA!

I'm shocked and a little disappointed to find myself on the fence here. The D-guard does nothing for me, but the price is right to consider buying it to mod. Anyone have any thoughts on the handle? This would be my first Mistress (& I so long to have a Mistress to call my own ;)) so I'm going by pics. It looks like this would be pretty close to a BWM once the guard is removed? Any perspective on the BWM vs. FBM handles? My gut feeling is that the cant on the Fusion handles would be better for heavy chopping...

This mistress wrapped in leather could remind a guy of a character Lucy Lawless used to play.

Hey Jerry, has anyone tried throwing one of those things yet?

Super cool blade,,, I have my SR101 in 10" or more covered at the moment though,,,
Wheres that Magnum Bear Cub in Battle Grade?;)

It depends on the user as to how they like a certain chopper handle, some guys love Fusions, some ergos, some straights and some Test Team. Now if this D-guard was on a TTKZ... yum! The price is very sweet on this one and it kinda looks like a mistress blade on an ASH-1/2 handle that is wrapped around closed to make a d-guard. It should feel great in the hand holding it, time will tell on actual user experience. In a lot of ways it seems more like a budget utilitarian/practical version of an Argonne Assault modified to fit any hand. Regardless, it looks cool and reminds me of pirates. Argghh!

Words can not describe how bummed I am that a BG Mistress is finally here......and I can't get one because it has a damn D guard.

I like Micarta more than G10 so I have been stuck ordering black canvas every time. Dont get me wrong, I love that black canvas but it sure would be nice to see some more micarta color choices. Snakeskin, tigerhide, green linen all very nice. This will be my 12th coated blade, would be nice to mix it up a bit. Urban Crinkle and a Green should be on the list of choices. Just sayin...

They've been making Battle Grade Battle Mistresses for years,, they come with res-c too :D

A top swedge would have killed it for me. I like it just don't know if I need another Mistress. But then again one can never have too many mistresses.

I was tempted by this - but I would only have tucked it away for future resale because people seem to go nuts for D-guards.
I've used a couple for actual work, though, and I don't like them. The NY thing wouldn't have been an issue - I've got enough friends in other states that would receive them for me...but for a knife I don't want for myself, it's a bit of a hassle.
That just means more for the rest of you - enjoy! (I'll be over here, hoping that a BMe will be offered before this madness is finished)

Thanks man, good food for thought. All of my choppers right now are in Res-C, but been wanting to try a true Mistress. I just did this (crudely) on my phone:

Has me leaning closer to picking one up. If I find the D-guard actually does work for me, great! If not, should be a fairly simple matter of strip and snip :D

Yeah I know Hoot, I was just kidding, and no offense taken, also thanks for the invite, I love the south too, even though I haven't seen much of it; one of these days...

There is some beautiful places here too, I mean it's not the Muir woods, but close in some area's.
