Scales for my Future Forum Knife

Man, nice work!!!! I also like the skull logo idea someone else mentioned, would you have enough surface area to work with though?

Very nice Sh@rp! I so badly wanted to be able to put an ant on my handles, but couldn't figure out how to do it and make it functional. Congrats on making it happen! I think you should inlay the ant with some micarta for some grip!

Are you able to make a lanyard hole that would come in on the very back of the knife and allow you to use the large caribiner hole? I'm thinking you could get rid of the hole on the side completely and have a clean handle but still be able to attach a lanyard. This was another thing I wanted to try, but wasn't sure how to deal with the gaps created on my wood scales. Hope that makes sense.

Hey, glad to hear from some one with experience my friend. Thanks for the inlay idea I will give it some thought. The land yard hole you mentioned and the option without the BIG hole already in the work check out new pictures I added this evening. Thanks my friend, love your work.

I will take in-hand Pic when it's done. Thanks

Those are pretty bad-ass. Good work.
Thanks for nice words

I think if I leave out the words and keep just the skull and cross knives I think it would be OK. But can't do without permission. Thanks

Hey Sh@rp, great looking handles! You say you've got a HAAS, which sounds like you may have your own machine shop. Those some really good designs. Let us know when you start manufacturing for sale.

Thanks, I'm running a HAAS machine, BTW it's US made:thumbup: good machine. I do not own machine shop, I work there full time though. This is my hobby and when this project done I might give away the extra scales that I have. So let me hear ideas, suggestions which help for the Forum Knife coming and I will set aside three sets if I end up using those ideas from three people, then they will get free scales. Let focus on The Forum knife folks.:)

Wouldnt that make a great new contest @ mods? I'll enter my yesterdays idea into it for sure :D

I've posted earlier about how nice your work is, but since you're running a contest now, I'll add my 2 cents to the mix. While those metals scales are beautiful to behold, I think that exotic wood scales (cocobolo, kamigong, rosewood, curly maple, etc.) would really fit the ESEE theme as being a hard use wilderness knife and would give people a chance to personalize their knife in various colors. Yes, micarta has been "adopted" as the standard for ESEE knife handles, but you can get them very easily through various venues. If you're planning on selling the handles to the masses, marketing 101 teaches you to be unique, stand out and offer something to the market that your competitors do not. This suggestion comes from a recent personal experience. I have been searching for wood Becker handles, but can only find the standard micarta replacements. The few that I've seen are custom crafted individual pieces and are absolutely stunning.

As for the ant design, it is definitely a work of art! I would scale it down just a hair so that the design doesn't reach the edges of the handle, but that's just my personal preference. Keep up the good work!

Really nice work. The black lexan with the small lanyard hole makes it look like a whole new knife. I might have to get a set of those.

Since the Izula comes in different colors, if you made the ant the same color as your knife that would be pretty cool...black handle, pink ant...white handle, olive ant, etc.

Have you considered adding a little traction to them? Would hate to take away from the looks but if it was subtle to increase function I think it would be worth it. Just some shallow grooves outside of the area of the ant. Maybe something like this?
