Possible scam alert!!!!

Had a dealing wth this guy who goes by cougarblades on another forum, his email is cougarcountryknives@gmail.com
I sent him a knife in trade for a SYKCO 511 and haven't received any confirmation (no tracking info, only email assurances but he's too busy, etc) of him sending out the 511.
Called the recieving post office and apparently he's had two other packages that were intercepted by the senders in the last few days.
Here's his mailing info:

Scott McGee
409 Elizabeth St. D-4
Saltville, Va 24370

If it turns out I'm wrong, I'll post an update.

A "possible" scam that you might be wrong about goes into the Hall of Shame?

Evidently, he was 100% correct! Thank you for the tip/mutation of this scammer. How many different alias' does this make now?

BTW firecog: Were you as fortunate as the other two guys who were able to intercept their packages, or were you too late? Good luck!

This guy is all over the place.....
I know he has been banned here a couple of times under different names.

Some people just need a really harsh wake up call, because they just don't seem to get it....

I hope you can sort this out, thanks for giving us yet another name for this OCD thief.

You have his address right? Go to his house and ask him where the hell your knife is! I think the look on his face when he opens the door and you ask him why he hasn't shipped your knife would be priceless.

Sometimes things like that don't go down the way you think they will.

I would be very cautious in using this approach, it might feel like a the best idea, because we all want to face a piece of (insert) like this guy, but it can all go sideways in a hurry.

There are other ways to consider.
I would suggest that if he has stolen from many people across multiple forums, that those people get together and file a police complaint against him.

It seems like it would be a good size group, one that the authorities would have a hard time ignoring, not to mention the combined value of the knives...

You should collaborate with the other forms collect all alias. Gather documents of all failed sales/ trades. Slap him or her with theft.
An ongoing scam... F that, bring em to justice.

So looks like I may have just gotten burned by this guy as well. Did a trade plus cash and he still hasn't paid the invoice for the cash. He did send me a tracking number but after reading this, I bet the package is empty. It was for the same knife that he was supposed to trade to firedog. ugh.

I have been on the phone with USPS but looks like it is already out for delivery? Tried to get ahold of the local postoffice but looks like no one is there.

This really sucks and I can't stand dishonest people.

I did a search on his name last week and didn't find anything. He is using the name Cougar Country Outdoors and Scott McGee.

He contacted me thru my website so I was unable to link him to a user name on this forum.

This just really pisses me off.

I will up date when I know more.

+1  Great advice JR88

As much as I would entertain the thought of seeking justice on my terms, I enjoy my freedom way to much to ever jeaporidze that. With that being said, when it's your property that's involved, it's got to be a very bitter pill to swallow. Aside from that, you already know that this guy probably has a pretty big arsenal of knives, & is walking around with a few of them strapped to his body...& when you factor in that he is living in a constant state of paranoia, or possibly a drug addict, things would definitely turn out very badly.

If you need to talk to somebody, firecog, contact BF member "Pellel". He got burned by another scammer who lives up in the State of Washington, & has to live with the fact that this guy still has his $1500 knife. What makes his situation worse, is the fact that he can see the thief's Facebook page & all the pictures of all of his knives that he as posted, along with his smiling smug profile pictures.

Thanks again for posting this very helpful information, for the rest of us. Please keep us updated.

Damn it! It really bother's me reading these posts, because in reality, this could be anyone of us.
Is it too late for you to request that the USPS intercept your package, or has it already been delivered?

Best of luck, buddy, & I'm really sorry, that you are another victim of this scumbag

Too bad this guy doesn't live down in Texas...I would have a better feeling that justice would be served one way or another!

Showing up at someone's home unannounced is a good way to catch a few bullets to the face and body. Not advisable to be a tough guy and have a Wild West / Hollywood fight scene. Go the route of the authorities, always. This person does not appear to be operating on the same wavelength as the rest of the world. OCD style theft with no regard for any potential consequences. He is getting into what we call troubled waters.
Start blowing up his facebook page, start another page explaining the situation and send him a friend request or link to his page somehow.

Wow that guy really is a busy thief. File charges of theft by mail with the U.S. Postal Inspectors. He'll likely make some lonely inmate a fine Wife. ;)

Saltville is in the sticks. Brushes against the Alleghenies and close to WV and TN. Nice place to hide.

If I put this in the wrong forum, I apologize, and the mods are free to move it.
I was able to intercept my knife, so I'll be able to get it back.
He made contact this morning saying he's the victim of another scam.
Afterwards, he sent me a tracking number.
I'm in touch with Dex to compare notes.

That Scrapyard 511 is the same knife I sent to CougarCountry, aka- "Scott McGee" two weeks ago on Nov. 1st. Same shipping address as the OP.
He finally ended up shipping his Blind Horse Long Trail the following Thursday, Nov. 6th. I had the knife arrive Sat., Nov. 8th.
I actually left positive feedback for him since he was pleasant to deal with via email and kept in touch throughout the entire trade.
It was only after a fellow member tipped me off as to his true identity that I knew who I was dealing with. I was shocked to say the least!
After doing some research I believe that CougarCountry, aka- Scott McGee, is actually Jordan Depew. A known scammer on several sites, FB, and various forums....

I contacted CougarCountry via email and asked if the Blind Horse Long Trail was stolen. He assured me it was not, but I have my doubts.
He said that he was not Jordan Depew. He said he was Jordan Depew's cousin. I have my doubts about this as well.
I gave him the opportunity to send any stolen knives to me so that I could return them to their rightful owners.
He basically said that his "cousin" feels bad about dirty dealings in the past and would like to try to make things right. Again, I'm doubtful.
Especially since it looks like "Scott McGee" has already traded the 511 to two different people...

This has definitely opened my eyes as to how I will conduct sales and trades with new members with little to no feedback and no real established posts on the forums.

I've already been in contact and talked with Dex. Firecog, get a hold of me if there is any info I can share or anything I can do to help out.

If you want to avoid this you should wait until somebody with a lot of positive feedback has what you want, I only deal with people who have at least 3 or 4 positive feedback score.

I have done a few trades on the forums . When I first heard of people trading knives online I shuddered at the high probability that things could go south. I have established myself on this forum over my 4 plus years of buying and selling . My trades have worked out well. But my policy on trading if I am the senior member you ship first. So this clown was given trust he did not deserve. Nobody deserves to be taken of there hard earned money . But use common sense when trading. Don't let your desires get in the way of sound judgment.
