Scam Alert (CougarCountry / Jordon Depew / Scott McGee)!!!

I thought I had read about a scammer with the cougarcountry in another thread, then RevDevil posted a link to it. The only transaction I have done on here so far is ordering a knife from a custom knife maker.
If I ever do any trading I would rather trade with someone that has solid reputation. If I don't have any feedback at that time I can just send my knife first without having to worry so much about being cheated and they will know I'm not a scammer when they send their knife.
QUOTE=firecog;14150783]If I put this in the wrong forum, I apologize, and the mods are free to move it.
I was able to intercept my knife, so I'll be able to get it back.
He made contact this morning saying he's the victim of another scam.
Afterwards, he sent me a tracking number.
I'm in touch with Dex to compare notes.[/QUOTE]
That is AWESOME you were able to stop your knife from getting to him!!
I've never heard of someone intercepting a package they sent like that. How did you do that??
Victim of a scam? Did he mean your intercepting the package or was he talking about something else?

Intercepting a package is more like stopping delivery. All you need is the tracking number a telephone and a couple minutes with a USPS clerk.

I was one of the members who intercepted the package in time before Jordon could receive it. I also did my best to prevent further unfortunate situations by reaching out to the people he contacted last via his posts. I'll post my full experience as soon as I get to a computer (on a tablet now).

Saltville does have a police department (http://www.saltville.org/police-department), with a relatively new police chief (2011) named, Rob Hall, and 6 police officers on staff. It wouldn't hurt to contact them about Jordon Depew/Scott McGee's criminal activities. Here's the contact info:

Thanks again for the heads up!
I had already declined his offers at the time but the thought to reach out and warn others is very much appreciated.

You did an excellent job, thanks. :)

 On intercepting your knife.

That was very noble of you for reaching out to the other potential victims. I'm looking forward to hearing the rest of the details.

Thank you guys, I appreciate it. I couldn't even describe to you the knot in my stomach the moment I figured out my faint suspicions were true. My mind was racing, and I immediately called the post office that I dropped the package off to. I dropped it off at 9:30, it was 12. They told me it was already gone, and informed me about the USPS Package Intercept website. I then called the postal inspectors, and they said the same thing, and that because he's using different names, they can't do anything about it. I checked the package intercept site and it said once tracking starts on the package, I can process a package intercept request. Little did I know, if I print through Stamps.com, the tracking takes a bit longer to update for whatever reason. So all I could do was wait, and think about what this guy did to me. I immediately thought about what he was doing to other people, as well. I went on his profile page and went through every single post of his and sent the same message out - this guy is a scammer, do not deal with him... look at his "homepage", find his real name, google it, find out the truth. I sent a more detailed message to some mods, and then I was finally able to process my package intercept claim. It cost me $12. So I'm out right around $18, but I got my knives back.

The story before I found out was this (and I'm telling this part so anyone out there with suspicions could compare to my story and see if any similarities exist, which will hopefully then confirm your suspicions): He contacted me through my trade forums. We went back and forth, he seemed like an alright guy. He offered me a bundle that was roughly worth $10 - $20 more then mine, so I figured that that wasn't too much of a difference to worry about (meaning he wasn't trying to offer me something worth way more then mine, which would give me slight reason to worry). He offered me TWO KERSHAW BLURS (1670RD and 1670DSBLK). This is important because I've heard he's used these Blurs to scam in the past. He probably actually owns them and uses them on people all the time. He also gave me the exact same address along with the alias Scott McGee. We made the deal, and I immediately printed my label. I always print my label the night before I send out, because I have all the packaging equipment at home. Everything. So I had this awesome package ready to go, and dropped it off along with some other stuff. I had an uneasy feeling, and started digging. If it wasn't for this fool having his facebook connected to his bogus BF account, I probably would have lost my knives. The rest of the story continues to the previous paragraph.

The worst part about this guy is that he lied to the very end. He still hasn't admitted it, but I don't care. After I found out that my package was safely on its way back to me, I wrote one of the most gratifying emails I've ever written. I was playing dumb before I knew my package was coming back to me just in case anything went south. But once I found out that it was going to be mine again, I told him that I knew he was a scumbag scammer, and that I had no idea why he felt as though he was dealing with children. After I sent him that one email (5 sentences, all professional, no foul language whatsoever), he threatened me with a harassment charge. I responded one last time saying that I never want him to email me either.

I hope this guy gets caught, soon.

THe postal inspector said that because he used a different name they couldn't go after him? If that was true no scammers would ever use their real name so they wouldn't have to worry about prosecution..
