There's only so much we can do...and in the end, we can't protect people from their own poor decisions when we've pointed out the antidote time and time again. And yet folks are still as we speak posting their email .![]()

I just got an email from the same address trying to scam me. Thing is I can’t find my email anywhere on this site. I went and redacted all traces of it a while back. I haven’t posted it on any thread since.
ES is correct. Once your email address has been posted, all bets are off, even if you go back and delete the address out of your old posts. You have to assume that the scammers have it.Emails are insidious once post here. You can never be sure they won’t save them and scam you in the future.
Unfortunately, scammers are hard enough for legitimate law enforcement to track down, so I’m not sure what the Admin is going to be able to do.I hope admin can do something about it!!!
This #$-bag just sent this hoping to scam me, only shareing this to help people here and bring more light to the latest intrusion into our safe knife collecting and exchangeing forum. I did a little research on this and here is a summary.
proton.me is legitimate. It is associated with Proton Mail, a secure email service focused on privacy and encryption. Proton Mail is operated by Proton AG, a company based in Switzerland, known for its strong data protection laws.
The proton.me domain was introduced as an alternative to the original protonmail.com domain and is commonly used for shorter, user-friendly email addresses.
We should ban proton.me email host until Proton Mail can better police its users. Just my opinion.

I think what needs to be banned is usage of PP F&F and other instant payment methods. Scammers want money NOW.
Why is it there are so many reports on here of scammers wanting money via these methods, but rarely (if any) of people being scammed when they use money orders for payment? (Not saying it couldn't happen, just that it is extremely rare.)
The "buy a membership so you use PM's" (or DM's or whatever) gets pushed a lot. But what is there to stop a scammer from buying a membership and still scamming members? Absolutely nothing.
Stop using PP F&F and other instant payment methods. When the scammers realize fast money isn't gonna be here for the taking, they'll go elsewhere, at least the majority of them.
The interweb is big. And never forgets.I am aware enough to never fall for something like this, but I wonder how he got my email address. I must have posted it somewhere on the forum over the years.
The PPFF has been discussed a lot and I think BF admin currently have an excellent take on the matter. It's not just ppff, it's a host of other payment methods you would be banning as well.
Freedom of choice is important. People are just going to have to be intelligent in how they go about their business.
Yes you can buy the ability to pm and sell but you won't have any established feedback which doesn't bode well for someoneone asking for a payment method without protection.

I think the BF admin is trying to do the best they can under the circumstances, but I think it will get to a point that Spark
may have no choice but to ban PP F&F in particular, and other 'instant' payment methods whether he wants to or not. But as I have said in other posts, it's his forum, he can do what he wants.
Your 2nd statement, I totally agree.
Your 3rd, to some extent you're right about that, but you've been on here long enough to know that everyone started out at a disadvantage of having no feedback, but members took chances and helped others build their reputations as good members who are honest and good to deal with. You are also aware that some members with good reps have gone bad, so what's to stop a scammer from taking his time, building a good rep, and then just saying "Ok, time to make some easy money" and go for it? Nothing. Some people care more about money than reputation...
It's good to take precautions as recommended and to be careful when doing deals with people on here, but the fact is that most of the scams are made much easier because of PP F&F in particular. As far as I can tell, it seems to be the most common means of getting scammed on here. People can push "buy a membership" all they want, but it isn't the membership (or lack thereof) that is the problem...
