I ordered an umbrella from 888knivesrus.com and it arrived with the covering on the handle ripped off. Their return policy promises a full refund, so I immediately shipped it back. No refund or e-mail for two weeks, so I e-mailed about status. 888knivesrus.com then refunded the item cost but says they won't refund shipping either direction even though it was their mistake and their return policy says they will. After multiple e-mails, they finally say I should have requested they inspect the merchandise before it is shipped.

In summary:
- 888knivesrus.com shipped defective merchandise and charged me for their mistake
- they refuse to honor the return policy on their own web site
- any mistake they make will cost you shipping expenses both directions at a minimum, in my case $26.27

Moved to FEEDBACK/GBU. Halls of Fame or Shame are for longterm situations designated there by the Administrator.

They also advertise knives that are not in stock. I was psyched about a purchase and then received an email stating that they didn't have any. I canceled the order and do not plan on doing any business with them in the future. The whole experience was irritating, and I don't plan on repeating it.

:thumbdn: for 888 knives r us

I have ordered from them in the past without any problems.

Have not had a return issue come up, so I can not speak to that.

They "carry" 11,000+ items, but not all are in stock. In todays Internet driven market, I prefer a knife dealer to have up to date inventory info on their site. Buying sight unseen also requires them to inspect merchandise.
I've ordered one item from them, waited 3 weeks to get an Ontario Machete. NO THANKS, NOT AGAIN.

I have never dealt with them but tempted many times. As far as "never having a problem with them" goes, I said the same thing about Botach Tactical until they screwed me and didnt even take me to dinner first.
I know where your coming from, thanks for the heads up.

I found with them you are better off giving them a call. I have done quite a few orders by phone with out a problem, the only time I did one online they messed a few things up but fixed it no problem, just my 2 cents though.

Wow, that's awful. Why should you have to hold there hand throughout the process? It's their job to ensure a quality product gets shipped to their customer.

I agree that is unbelievable that you have to request that they do their job.

Same here, but I did once get an email from them telling me the item wasn't in stock.I waited & it got to me within a couple weeks.

Not good at all. It's not the buyer's duty to request merchandise inspection. That's just plain ridiculous.

Heres my 2 cents. Back in 2003-2004 I ordered a few Benchmade balisongs from them, which I recieved about a week after I made the order. I didn't mind as I always got great deals on them.
Then about 8 or 9 months ago, I ordered a couple cans of cold steel inferno spray and 2 Bear and Sons balisongs from them. They charged my card immediatley, but sent no confirmation email. After a week and half of no confirmation email or package, I called them. I called twice early in the day and recieved no answer. The next day I called again, and asked nicely where my order was. I was told rather rudely that the reason they had not shipped my items was because the knives were out of stock, even though the site said they were IN STOCK. The guy even got annoyed when I mentioned that the site said they were in stock. I finally got the package 3 and 1/2 weeks after ordering it.
I won't do business with them again unless they're the only ones with what I want.

Update on my situation: I sent one last e-mail to the owner of the site explaining what happened as I saw it all and frankly never expected to hear back. He examined things fairly, apologized, and refunded the shipping as I had requested. He then offered to send my next offer with free shipping.

Bryan11, thank you for updating this thread.

Tarman245, Our site like most ecommerce sites sends confirmation emails immediately upon the completion of an order, to the address that the consumer types into their order. Also our site NEVER charges a customers card at checkout as we sell many items that are either back ordered, or not in production yet (preorders). There were a few customers during Christmas 2009 that were charged at checkout due to our software being updated without our knowledge and turning on a switch the programmers had forgotten about but we refunded them immediately if the products were not available. Our site informs our customers in 2 places during checkout that we order most items as needed, on the cart page and on the page where customers select their shipping method. Lastly it is in the confirmation email that is sent to the customer right below the order contents. We would rather have customers be informed and order at one of our many reputable competitors if we can not meet their time constraints than be upset with us. Lastly many items that we sell can be shipped direct to the consumer if we know they need it in a hurry, which is also noted on our cart page.
