Scammer - Jeff Carte from kargknives.com and kargkonstruction.com

And it makes me question the wisdom of sending anything valuable to be worked on ever again. Sucks that one asshat can spoil a hobby.

Roughly a 425$ lesson for me. Sucks that this was this was going to be the first knife I had customized, and one that doesn't lend itself to being easily replaced.
 
Spoke with him a bit. He assures me he sent it out the last week of October. Waiting on a tracking number...


...not holding my breath.

Same games. At this point, if he sent it out the last week of October he would have backed it up with a tracking/delivery confirmation number at that time. Barring a misroute on the package, you should have already received it by now.
 
I offered to front him a little extra to cover his expenses and time, just to send me what's mine. Well, that's the second time I made that offer.

Not going to expect much.

I would be more comfortable if this dude would just tell me "Idiot, I'm not sending you your stuff."

I wonder what the hell his motivation could be? I mean...did he sell the knives or otherwise no longer has them? He likes them sooo much that he has to keep them? Too busy to get to the post office?

Really strange situation at any rate...

I think he is insolvent. Which means refunds might be out of the question and there's a chance he does not have our knives. I was thinking of asking him to email or text a photo of my knife as proof of life, but I doubt anything will come out of it.

Noting how he turned down or ignored my offer(s) to send him additional money/consideration so he could get it out to me, it's probable that he no longer has my knife - and thus can't ship me what's mine.
 
Gang- Sorry to hear this. This nonsense is still going on? Has anyone considered contacting The Better Business Bureau?
I had four knives with Jeff, a few years ago, but finally I got them back.
With all due respect, I think Jeff has issues too. Good luck all.

I agree, call and consult with his local sheriff's dept. They may have some advice for you or a way of getting your property back.
 
Guys.....i live in austin, firefighter down near houston, wife's family is from San Antonio looks like he operates on the other side of 1604 kinda out of the way for me but I wouldn't mind paying this fella a visit in the least if you guys think it would do any good....be down sometime in the next few weeks.
 
Another thing, has anyone ever contacted sapd? They are very well ran and if this guy has scammed people on the scale it seems they would go after him in a heartbeat. They don't take too kindly to thieves down there.
 
i was talking to a dispatcher from the san antonio police dept. she said anyone that jeff ripped off can go to sanantonio.gov/sapd under forums and reports there is a link to file a theft report on line.
 
He's phone has been shut off for the last couple days. NO email response. I explicitly told him weeks ago that if I didn't get my items back, legal action would be taken. I called the SAPD and was told that I had to file a report with my local PD and have them send it over.

Going to do that on Monday.
