hello guys,
here is a batch of puukkos up for grabs.
blades are made by Finnish Laurin Metalli - 80CrV2 high carbon steel, tempered to about 59Hrc.
all blades have rounded and polished spines.
first four - classic utilitarian design, rugged and minimalistic.
bit on the heavy side due to the brass bolsters.
blade dimensions are 3.75 x 0.8 x 0.12 inches - with a generous sized handle, 4.35 inches long.
handle is curvaceous with big belly.
sheaths are a bit of an overkill, made in thick (0.15 inches) vegetable tanned leather - tightly measured, sewn and wet formed, resulting with an impeccable retention.
handle materials:
hawthorn - rugged shrub used by the greeks and romans for spear shafts, weapons and tool handles.
hard, dense and elastic with extremely fine pores (polishes up to a glass like surface).
bog oak - pieces I use are over 3 thousand years old, pitch black with silver streaks.
hard, stable and tough material, extremely rare and noble.
price is 135USD shipped (a piece).
paypal preferred (trades welcomed in form of kifaru gear).
cheers,
Mile
gruesome puukko:
hammered finish on bolsters.
handle made in hawthorn - textured using a special technique mimicking toad's skin.
this texture provides superb grip in all conditions - without hot spots.
another advantage over checkering and other texturing techniques is it's durability and ease of cleaning.
disadvantage being time and effort input.
but it is so effin cool and well worth the trouble.
shady puukko:
hammered finish and patina on bolsters.
handle in hawthorn.
black fire puukko:
hammered finish on bolsters.
handle in bog oak (extremely nice piece this one).
black puukko:
nothing special about this one except the superb fit and finish - and the very rare handle material thousands of years old.
hammered finish on bolsters.
handle in bog oak.
carver puukko:
blade dimensions: 3.35 x 0.9 x 0.12 inches.
tang peened over countersunk deer skull bone insert.
handle in hawthorn, 4.1 inches long.
