Scandi folder

The Marttiini 960110 is under $40 inseveral places. Google it. I bough mine recently for under $30. It has two sided thumb studs and no clip.

The Spyderco Endura was offered in a Scandi grind.

Good luck finding that with the OP's under $40 budget...

To OP, why do you oppose the Cold Steel Finn Wolf? It's a good knife that seems to meet all your criteria...

I have the Cold Steel Finn Wolf. It came very sharp, seems sturdy, and locks up like a vault. But, the one I have is difficult to open one handed and hard to close.

Was that a sprint run? I only remember the Enduras with sabre and full flat grinds.

Some people use the terms interchangeably. If you think the Scandi grind has a shorter slope than the Sabre grind, then the Endura I was talking about probably more closely conforms to the Sabre convention.

You can buy a flat saber ground knife and grind the primary bevel to eliminate the secondary bevel. However, the bevel on many flat sabers is more acute than the Mora bevel, which could be too fragile for woodwork use. Using a guided sharpener one could reprofile to a zero grind at any angle desired. That would be hard to do freehand.

While I'm sure it's over budget, I got the 2016 Spyderco catalog today and they have a new scandi-folder coming out designed with Ray Mears. Looks pretty cool.
