Scandi grind folders

Get a knife you like with a flat grind and have a knife sharpener put a Scandi grind on it. That's what I did with a nothwoods Scagel that was so thickly ground as to be almost useless. Great little knife now.

Did somebody call?

Sorry I'm a bit late chaps.

I am quite partial to these Nordic-Nives!

:)

No Helle.

The top and middle ones are EKAs. The former has a carbon steel blade too :)

The barrel knife is by Johan Engstrom.

When you post about a "Sandi Grind, what do you mean?

Apparently not a saber grind without a secondary bevel.

Well if you are gonna be semantic....

;)

Given the OP refers to both the EnZo and the Woodsknife which ARE both "scandi" grinds, apparantly so.

However, given both are Finnish.....

(Why does some weisenheimer point out this common scandi grind generalisation and (mis)understanding everytime?)

Such difficult questions you ask. Quess I dont know myself what I am searching, a folding puukko I think. :D Anyway not a hollow grind like in some EKAs.

Fear not HFinn, you committed no foul to me.

The EKA's in my post, plus the likes of the Swede 92, are essentially the kind of grind you are looking for. As are both the offerings from EnZo, the Birk (liner lock & newly updated) and the the PK70 (slip joint).

Personally I find the Swede 88 and Birk really fit that folding puukko bill the closet, due to their straight backs.

now that I'd like to see...

Indeed. I wish we could censor that phrase entirely!

Sorry for my rant there TL. I just think its better to let that one slide sometimes, especially for the sake of addressing the OP / query.

:02.47-tranquillity:

Wishing to "address" is why I asked. I find a whole range of understandings of what "Scandi" means. In the sense often used, an Endura is a "Scandi" - saber grind and small secondary bevel. Others would gasp in shock at such a suggestion, if for no other reason than its not from "Scandinavia" (Sweden, Norway, and Denmark) or "traditional" (Now there's a word!).
