Scared to remove my small seb 21 lanyard

To be clear, I really like the way lanyards look, they just get in my way. Think my plan is to force fit a short metal or plastic rod through the pin. Sheared off with just a bit sticking out either end should hold it in place...;-)

I did this before but I used a paracord instead. Run it throught the lanyard pin hole and cut it very short, then melted both ends. Worked great, until I removed it to put in my own braided paracords with beads... :)

Thanks, Ice_man, but want to go with a cleaner look than melted cord. I like to tinker, and think the forced pin would be the best way to go on this. A small section of nail, or hard plastic rod would be an easy fit. Ten minutes with hacksaw and file...;-)

I was planning to remove the lanyards on my 21s, because there ugly and I'm not a lanyard fan. Until I found that crk makes better ones as replacements.

Nice pictures and thank you all for the advise and kind words. I am almost ready to take mine down for the first time. I pretty much have everything ready. I just need to find a quiet day and free time.

tuica,
On the large CRK's try a small solid copper or brass pin / rod cut to length and peen it on a small anvil or metal vice. It will flair enough to keep lanyard pin in place and is easy to remove if the need arises.

As soon as I got my 21 I just pulled my lanyard out and pulled the pin out. I leave both out. If I ever needed to in an emergency situation I would probably tie some para cord in there. Personally I am not a fan of lanyards...I like the inconspicuous look. Take the thing apart! One thing I've found when reassembling is to get the stop pin and back standoff screws ALMOST completely screwed down before you slide the blade back into place (at a 90 degree angle). This will ensure the washers stay centered on the pivot shoulder. 3rd or 4th time will be a breeze!

Thanks Ghostwalker. We are thinking in the same direction. The pin does not have to be flared much to keep that lanyard pin in place...;-)

Dkblade,

I will keep this technique in mind when I do decide to take my small 21 apart for the 1st time. I also enjoy the inconspicuous look!
