I really like useful blades but for me the esthetics are what make it scary looking or intimidating also. I started carrying a tactical folder after I was faced with defending myself with a 2" Gerber folder. It kept him away but I was VERY worried that it wouldn't. -Anyway the next day I purchased a KO Blackout over at wally-world and just fell in love with KO knives ever since.
I just upgraded (after a year) to the Spec Bump and I really really like it. Not only is the blade beautiful (rather menacing looking too) but I have no problem using this blade for various chores like scoring drywall, cutting insulation/boxes etc.
So I got to thinking about what you people thought about scary looking blades for EDC? The obvious downside is the reaction from sheeple but you can always take it out discreetly and open it manually about half way so this seems like a silly concern to me.
SO what are some of your favorite "scary looking" knives?
Other scary knives I like the look of:
Pretty much any Ken Onion recurves, Spec Bump, Boa, Mojo etc.
CRKT Greg Lightfoot M1 SBT
CRKT Ryan Model Seven
Kerambits, Hawksbill knives or even the Spyderco Civilian are menacing but not too useful for more than box cutting or self defence.
