Scary Freaking Silence

Those of us who were not fortunate enough to go to Blade, could fill the dead
air space with BS rambling and off topic crap until the return.
Oh, I do that already . I'll be quiet.

I wasn't implying that the rest of us are boring people, although I'm not denying it either... Just that the boards are slow during Blade.

You read too much into my post. I would rather be at the show, thats for sure.

I would say, percentage wise, out of the 1400 or so post I have made here,
20 percent might put the average person to sleep.:Dhehe!

I have a question , please: Does the show actually start in the afternoon of Friday and if so are there pre show hours and how do you get in that? You know what bugs me the most? Think of all the people that LIVE there full time year round know nothing about the Blade show or people who live there and accidentally wander in , finding out about it by accident I mean and enjoy the thing for no more effort than going downtown or something . I mean it , not bugs me as in jealousy or they don't deserve it, but man they are so lucky and its so cool if they could just go over from their home and back the next day and so on! Remenber when they were talking about having the Guild show go town to town for awhile? I was so hoping they would come near. I have only been to the Solvang show and the Montana Knifemaker's association show. I just the other day heard about Reno in one of those ABS threads. But the King as everyone knows is the Blade show, a once in a life time event for someone who loves knives as much as I do.

I'm lucky, but not so lucky to live near the Blade Show. I did work the Timken Booth at the Blade Show in 2005 though.

How I'm lucky is that I live in the Portland Oregon area and the Blade West show is only a 20 minute drive away. The OKCA (Oregon Knife Collectors Association) show is a 2 hour drive away down in Eugene, Oregon. There is also a show in Puyallup, Washington every year, which is about a 2.5 hour drive away.

My goal is to have a table at The Blade Show in Atlanta some year. I'm starting off a little smaller and working my up on it. Kinda sneaking up on it.

i really wish that i could go. but on the other hand the central texas knife show which is only 2-3 hours away is next month but its only 1/4 the size of blade. i guess ill just have to walk the show 4 times to know kinda what it feels like to be at blade show. HEHEHE!!!! :D

Anyone and everyone...well, except for the above posters are there. I wanted to go, but next year for sure. Fred, I get a lot from your ramblings...ramble on!!!!

just us poor broke knife makers left behind

well sorta maybe next year i can go the funds / timeing ?planning didnt work out this year
last year i was workign a "real" job this year im a "starving artist(full timer) " next year im told weather i like it or not im going . now im not sure if that means i have table or not but we ll see

Im here with ya guys. It costs a bundle to go and besides you get on overload in about 10 minutes anyway. There are so many knives that they all just blend together and you wallet is flat in 5 minutes.

Bruce, you must be talking about tools... I just can't imagine a knife so intriguing that would make you want to buy instead of building it! You are so talented I am sort of surprised that you wouldn't make a killing at a show of this size.

The boards are slow during Blade like the Starz are slow in the playoffs.
