Schatt & Morgan?

I might as well take some shots of the beautiful S&M lockback I won in Black Mamba's generous contest while I'm at it! I took these with the macro setting, so there is a little foreshortening.

do the heritage knives have carbon springs too?

im digging that woodsman BTW, I'm a sucker for ebony...

Dang, Josh, that lockback is good looking! Why ever did I give THAT one away!?! ;) :D

Seriously, though, I'm glad you appear to be enjoying it.

Thanks guys! I really am enjoying the lockback Jeff!

I bought the Woodsman to be my main edc, it is in my pocket every day. It is an adventure carrying it.

Coolness- Yes the springs are carbon steel, I think they're 1095 just like the blades, judging from the patina coloration.

Sounds like the pulls on these are somewhat variable. I have this cattle king, I really like the looks of it but have been debating on selling it because the pulls on the pen and sheep's foot blades are approaching nail breaker. The half stop is interesting too, kind of a half pause not really a true stop.

Hey Mark, did not jave to dig far to find the comparison pics I was looking for. I do have a question for you and possibly a pic may show the difference. Which of the two ebony onives has a lower profile for the closed sheepsfoot? Is one much shorter in height over the other? In the pic to me, the cattle knife looks like a slimmer profile.

Jeff, I tried to capture the difference in height between the two, but without a shot of them both on graph paper is is difficult to capture. The Woodsman seems to be taller, but only by millimeters, and that is partialy due to the swell on the bottom side. The Cattleman does "feel" a little sleeker in hand and pocket, but it is also ~1/4in. shorter as well. They really are beauties and I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite between them. They are both right at the top of my "Favorite Knife List"!

Pictures are worth a thousand words...

Very nice Mark, thanks for the pics. Is it just the angle or are their a few gaps on the spring/liner section? I am starting to fall hard towards ebony, I need to pick one up to stop the urge. Thanks again for sharing, beauty's indeed

My pleasure.

There is one tiny gap on the Woodsman and none that my eyes can see on the Cattleman. The pictures are deceptive.

Thats what I wanted to here my friend. Nice collection you got going on there. The woodsman is the first non-gec I have wanted in a long time.

Ahhhh.

So close, and yet so far-- at least for me.

I love everything about the form factor of this knife; it's the "handful of ebony" I've been hankering for.

However, I've held off based on some of the reviews and impressions of current Queen cutlery and this pattern/edition in particular, both posted here and relayed to me privately (gaps in the springs, weak snap, etc.). I was finally able to see one in person last week, and my reservations were sadly confirmed. As much as I wanted to (still) want the knife, it had too many issues. At least, it did/does for me, at its current price point. But boy howdy, did it feel good in hand, closed or open. It was all those in-between parts that were problematic.

Yours looks mighty fine, however! :)

Thanks P. Its not without its issues either but I love the way both of them look. I don't see them leaving the collection anytime soon.

Love the collection Trand  The horticulturist is growing on me as well, whats the knife above it?

I have the same reserves P, now more than ever.
