Schrade 8OT anomoly???

Hi all. With regards to crinking, all 3-blade folders had to be crinked by Schrade cutlers in order for all 3 blades to operate smoothly. With regards to the Old Timer in the Uncle Henry box at Walmart, near the end, after Schrade had already pretty much closed their doors, there were still a lot of outstanding orders to fill for Walmart. Schrade scrambled to fill as many of those orders as they could to cover their deficit using any means available to them. This meant using interchangeable parts and packaging, just to fill the order, so if you are still seeing Schrades in the stores, it might be a good idea to give it a good going over before you make the purchase. Not that this is a bad thing....a lot of people have collections of knives that are all rarities....manufacturing goofs and errors. I guess these might just qualify.

I just read your bio and the thought came to me that I don't know that it was good or bad that Schrade closed their doors seeing how it seems to have brought you here. Probably bad seeing how there are so many fans of Schrade and your are a part of its history. Honored to meet ya.
Thanks for the info. So crinking was the norm for three bladed knives? I guess I'm not really confused about the explaintion ;) .

STR, after reading of Schrade's demise, I picked up an 8OT at a local hardware store, on a whim. When I got home, I compared it to the extra-large Remington "Green on Yellow" 3-blade stockman I've carried for some years. I immediately noticed the abnormally long sheepfoot blade. I had no other 8OT for comparison, so didn't realize it was "different." Its clip and sheepfoot blades are exactly like those of your newest one. Wonder if this was a variation put out near the end?

There is a new sheriff in town and she is packing the goods. Ok lets see those questions now I am tired of being picked on. LT

Sorry I have missed so many of these posts until now. I have been away for a while. Great to see it is causing a discussion. I knew it was something worth posting about.

I like the scallopped blade for the sheeps foot but in truth it isn't worth a darn for whittling which is what that style is most good for in my opinion. I'm sure it cuts well on rope and other things though.

Oh and Ed. It is good to meet you. I bought a couple of those Schrade made in China Super knives before their demise and to be honest they are a joke. Regular Stanley blades don't fit them at all and now they went to a phillips head instead of the tool for your key ring and once the ten pack of blades that came with the knife is used up the knife is worthless. I have some old blades that actually say super knife on them and they don't fit it either. Really disappointed in that purchase to be honest. They must have been really just throwing things together there toward the end.
