Score of The Month: Post them Here

It almost looks like there's a galaxy in there like the Men in Black movie.

Not Zircon, it's most likely a Spinel. Zircon is to soft to have a cabachon protruding like that. The other possibility is man-made Sapphire.

Enjoy it brother, I've only seen a hand full of pre stamp/lock bar (early run WC Zaans) come up for sale and they weren't New like yours. Now the question comes of whether to use such a rare bird:D

This is my score and i thank Dino for the opportunity to buy it.Its a Old School Umnumzaan/Star-Tac,,old pivot,no lockbar,s30v blade,no idaho made,NIB.Just got back into the higher end folders with this splash,,,feels nice to fondle a CRK again ;)

Use it!!!!!! If it were a UG or an annual I'd say different, but that knife was born to be used.

I also vote to use it, the WC versions are so sweet, I just love the Starbenza, and if I got an Umnum I would want yours!

I say DONT use it!!

Get another umnum and save that one...I got a couple like that I keep in their boxes.

Yes i am really torn here,,,ive been fondling and admiring this since i picked it up at the PO at 1 and i do not know if i should use it or not.I know this thing was made to be used but you dont find many like this one.Im half tempted to just go order a Large insingo and keep this one in the box.On the other hand if feels really good in the pocket and just disapears in there. The Starburst pattern rocks and is uber cool and i luv the older style jimping,,,i want to carry this bad boy in the worst way.Ugh,,,,what to do?!?!?!

I had that problem with a couple of early '90's Sebs that were mint but this one deserves to get used.

Yes i once had a Seb with micarta inlays and spiral damascus blade that i couldnt bring myself to use,,,i ended up selling it because it was just too damn pretty. This on the other hand isnt pretty just ultra cool,,,,im leaning toward putting it in my pocket ;)

Here's a collection shot of my small regulars, there might be one or two missing but this is all I could find at the moment.

You mean you collect sebenzas too!?! :) When was the last time you posted a collection shot?

And congrats on a very interesting find. It looks to be a very unique piece.

And this is what Damascus does for a Sebenza. I just love the old high carbon damascus, to bad it was discontinued.

Dino, I'm liking the first one on the left the best. What did you do, dress em up to see how they would look with the Damascus? They do look good...sucks they did discontinue it. Mine are so much clearer and crisp than the stainless it's ridiculous.

Yes, I'm always curious to see what a particular sebbie would look like with damascus so I used the plain Jane damascus (second from the left) blade just to satisfy my curiosity. In the end everything goes back where it belongs, just having fun.

I agree with the notion that stainless is better in the long run when taking rust into consideration but I would like the option to buy the better contrast offered with High Carbon Steel. Oh well I guess that's what the secondary market is for:)

You still have that Beautiful Sebenza you scored at ES awhile back? The one that to this day makes me jealous:D

I dress mine up too with Damascus...it's like "play time" lol!

Yes, I still have that one from ES. I would like to carry it more but it can not be re-blasted if it gets scuffed up, so I just "fondle it" you're first on the list bud if I ever get desperate:)

You two have me curious - which sebenza is that?

No surprise here. A fantastic offering of sebenzas, Dino. Though I'll have to disagree with lemmuhj. Your 2006 annual is stunning.

Thank you for sharing.

Dino, what an awesome collection. I'm really loving #'s 1, 4, & 5.

Think of it like this. Do you want to get the enjoyment out of it, or do you want to pass it on unused to your next of kin. This right here I carry my CGG Trapeze Seb.

...Does anyone know what the stone is? I scored this one without any papers but I do know it's from the 90's.
Could be Star Garnet? I've been eyeballing a 90's BG42 sebenza with a very similar design that state's it has a star garnet inlay.

Where is that one? Garnet is a soft stone, I'm surprised they'd use it protruding out the side like Dino's does.

It was the one we'd discussed. My eyes get bigger than my wallet sometimes, so I doubt I'll end up with it (just really like that one).

Anyway, you seem to know your stones and may be right about the inconsistency.

I did pretty good a few hours ago snagging a large Starbenza for well under 4 Franklins...
