Scored again Big Time...

I stand by my earlier statement David the three models are the 811, 812, and the 813. Please let us know of any other modle number in that style. I called them the electrican model because they are simular to a TL29 , also the Case style which you know that I have a few of. Not all of them had Workman on them. Buck listed them as contractor knives, go figure. HL

Here's my son and his wifes piles... Well they have more... I need to do some trading with them.... Now.... ...

Thanks David. I know this was discussed in the past. In 1989 they were called the "Guild Master" and had no etch on the blades. In '93 they were back as the "Workman" with the blade etch. Did Buck have another catalog that they were in in the years between?

I have several of them and they came both in black and a maroon color and had either smooth or checkered handles.

Plumber, Yes, we discussed this . It should be in the retrievable pages . I'm looking at a hard copy of the catalog and they have Buck Work-Man imprinted on the blades only its dated 4/92 . I did not find the Guild models in the 12/89 catalog . DM

Funny, mine is a 550-. Is yours the 500 size or the 501 size?

I don't have a 500 with me... 501s are in box... There was one on the bay the other day... I'll try to find it again... I have a 551 some where I got in a collection a few years ago... Let me find the pic....

Dave, this was on the auction on the bay....

551- ...

One of a kind Custom Made, Rare and collectible Buck Knife. This knife was designed and built on 551 model size and shape platform.
Features beautiful European design handle (front bolster only). Stainless handle is hand scalloped and inlayed with wooden scales on both sides, contour shaped and high luster polished along with bolsters to a mirror glare.
2-3/4" Drop point blade, Mirror polished and made of full rust proof, 425 stainless steel.

Stamp on the blade: BUCK (in calilgraphy) CUSTOM USA. This is one of a kind knife, which was made in 1994 in Buck's custom shop
I kept it as part of my collection on the plaque.
Overall measurement when closed: 3-7/8"

I know that it not one of kind... Because I have two of them now... I'm not sure what you have.... ITE

This is page 12 of the 1989 catalog David. They are also on page 10 of the 1988 catalog.

I did find a mention of the Workman line and some pictures of clam packs of them on the bottom of page 30 in the 1991 catalog. I figured that there must be some kind of catalog that isn't on the BCCI site that shows the whole line in detail.

I know what mine is. Its a "King Charles", a version of the 500 Duke.

Did you save the picture of the one in the auction? The one in your pictures looks like the 501 size version of the "King Charles". With a 2 3/4' blade and 3 7/8" closed, it's 501 size. The King was the 550 based on the 500 (3" blade) and there were about 1600 sold according to Joe Houser.

I'll bet a little research will find that the 551 is something similar. Habbie has one (550) I think and said that they were made for the European market.

Plumber, Thanks . Yes, those are the ones . Apparently, they were changed to the Work-Man Series shortly after this and models added .
ITE, Very handsome knives . DM

ITE, I found the auction you referred to. That might be a "one of a Kind" unless one of yours has the mirror polished, script Buck Custom blade in it.

Your right Dave, I never looked at the pic that good... Now I have to dig the other one out... Never say one of a kind.... Because more always show up... That what all the ex-Buck-employees tell me.... ;) ... Well I'm going to have my son sell it with all of his knives... soon... Maybe post here on the for sale area... or the bay.... ...
