Scotch Dispenser - "a test to the loyalty of fan boys" ?

I think Justabuyer is on a bit of a tear regarding the "fragile culture" of collectors and their collections. I guess I would be too if I'd lost thousands on Strider knives.

Having gone and actually held a Scotch Tape dispenser :p, I also think the design may be very effective. It certainly got me curious.

I ordered one just because I want to see if my suspicions are right. Did I pass the test? :D

Just to add: If you think about most small necker designs, one thing that they DON'T offer is any sort of full-sized blade guard. Many Busse knives have an effective guard by way of the handle design and talon hole/guard, but some are more pronounced than others. One benefit, I think, of this design for a necker is the security it's going to offer with that index-finger hole.

Looks like the little finger may be left hanging, though I'm not positive on this one. Would one more small indentation for a little finger help grip at all? Or will that last part of the handle catch both a ring finger and little finger? Not sure. Eager to find out though.

What do you guys thinks about the SD? Is it silly and useless by design?

Won't be able to form a VALID opinion until I get one in me mitts and see how it fits my hands, and potential needs.

Amazing to me how people feel their evalutory utterances approach or are to be considered valid or gospel, without them ever having handled or used an item.

Oh well, like I said, I'll reserve judgement for when the pudding is done....

(for those who don't understand that, there is an old saying "the proof of the pudding is in the eating.")

im undecided. i dont care for unscaled knives, but im starting to agree with its apparant usefulness.

i dont know. im sure at some point ill grab one to try out.

not every busse knife is for everyone. i love the gw, many find it too small. i dont care for the ad, most love them. i just prefer the meaner.

kinda what makes the world go round.

thatmguy, you wrote:Eh? Please don't tell me that the SD is not legal in this wonderful state.

ringed kerambits are legal. the sd doesnt seem much different.

imo, the ring on the sd provides no protection in an offensive (as opposed to defensive) mode. since the ring only covers one finger, it is arguable that it is not very effective at striking.

but i certainly would not want to be the test case.

I guess they didn't see it that way with the BARF's. I'm with you though. I think it's pretty ridiculous

+1... Seemed a silly design when I first saw it, but... It grew on me a bit, and I decided to get a pair and find out hands-on. Only then will I be able to form an opinion. I STILL want one of 'em to be ground into my 'Beer Chaser variant version... Please, Jerry???? :D

i believe that was a decision by jerry, and not prompted by any litigation.

the penal code does not specify whether or not the rings must cover the whole hand, or only a finger or two. with the barf, the handle would provide support in the palm for a strike.

with the sd, the handle is mostly the ring, and provides little offensive support. and with your ring finger set about even with the ring on the butt of the knife, you would probably break that finger as well as the index finger in a punch.

i dont know....

my brane hurts.
