Scouts

im not in buckeye council our troop just goes up there for the summer camp im in MD

I was in troop 1444 back in...id say 1980-1982. We actually did some traditional scout stuff. not a lot though. I learned to make a fire, how to pack a ruck, and set up a campsite...though i sorta already knew, as my parents were avid campers so, i already had a few years under my belt in the colorado mountains by then. but overall, it was too lax for me. they were already integrating jeans into the uniform, and that pissed me off. the rest of the kids there were just there for social hour. it wasnt what i thought it was. so i left. i was wasting my time. there wasnt enough field time. I grew up reading really old copies of american riflemen and boys life. i though the boy scouts were all about camping and field craft. by the time i got in, it wasnt. they arent what they used to be. i never learned the many uses of the boy scout knife or proper marksmanship training with an air rifle, or any of that crap. I was learning more from camping with my parents than anything. oh well.
