Scrap Yard Knives? Yard Guard vs others

OK. I give up.

You go to www.bussecombatknives.com and click on "Knives." You see one model.

Or you can click on "Entire Catalog" under "Ordering." You see one model.

What do you click on at the Busse site to see all these models for sale? I believe that the Hogs are in the know, but what about the rest of us?

The Busse family of knives are great, highly respected knives plagued by atrociously bad availability and horrifyingly inflated aftermarket prices

Expensive yes, but I can say for any Busse, Scrapyard, or SR bought/traded for to date - I got what I paid for :).

I would venture to say that most that own them have spent a fair share on comparably priced knives in their quest for "The Great Blade". Then they found Busse/Scraps/SW......... - and settled home to roost. - that is the single greatest PR that can be said for the Manufacturers.

I would encourage anyone kind of interested in these to catch them in the trade section as well, you can get a user maybe - see what you think, and if you don't like it, you can swap it out later.

Be Well,

SS4's recently went for $190 and $240. This is a nice premium for those who snap up the limited supply and resell, and you know very well that that is the rule, NOT buying under MSRP.

The thread asked about the YARD GUARD, not the SS-4. That's why I mentioned the YG selling for BELOW the MSRP.

Yet, you bring up the SS-4, which is totally irrelevant to the thread topic.

I recently paid LESS than retail for a Busse Fusion Battle Mistress, so it even happens with Busses......which still isn't the point.

The original poster asked about the Yard Guard. I cited 3 cases within the last 5-7 days where a Like New YG was purchased for less than retail (when you factor in shipping on two of them) I saw a 4th for a $130 asking price.

If one wants/needs a YG, now is a very good time to buy one.

As has been posted prior to your above post, it's the Busse COMPANY STORE that was mentioned as having several immediately available models.

The post beneath yours even provides the link.

I agree there is some confustion over this, but the Company Store still sells quite a few, even tho it's not widely publicized.

Any of the die hard SY fans in here want to send me a loaner? I just got my BK7, and I'm already feeling the urge to trade her. I feel shameful, yet I'd love to try out a SY.

I'm probably going to be selling my BK-7 since I got my Yard Guard this week.

Man. I'm really torn on this decision! The more I hear about the SY the more I'd like to check one out. But, I don't like having to buy a separate sheath.

I got it for $110 shipped in unused condition on the Exchange here at BF. Basically, that's $100 plus shipping. I was thrilled with the deal.

Surely you jest !

SOME folks here think that all things related to Busse sell for outrageous profits on the secondary market !! ;)

There be deals to be found !!

Scrapyard has a sheath for $17.95.......

BTW, I clicked on the sheath then saw "related items" pop up, one being an M6 for $99.......so I clicked on THAT.......and it showed "In Stock" !

This despite NOT showing up on the "Place Order" page.

Either there is a round about way to get one, or it's an error on the site.

Might be worth checking out, if you're in the market.

I wish that were the case. I've been selling off some of my Active Duties on ebay, and I'm barely breaking even. I'd like to sell one of my FFFBM's but I doubt I could get what I paid for it (about $450).

As someone sitting on a lot of INFI, I for one hope the secondary market heats up again, but for now it's COLD.

It's definitely a buyers market for INFI right now.

I have a yard guard. It's okay. I don't find the steel especially wear resistant, and chopping branches (which it is really too light to do well IMO - of course I am used to axes) has dulled the edge on mine every time I've done it.

I am reprofiling the blade. It came dull from the factory with a pretty blunt grind. Overall...it's okay, I guess. I am keeping it for two reasons:

1. I have an awesome sheath for it from OnScene Tactical. I mean the sheath is just awesome.

2. I kind of want one scary looking knife. All my other stuff is very practical. This one looks kind of scary.

If it weren't for the sheath, I'd sell it. It's not all that useful. I think they are really overrated, myself.

Care to post a couple of pictures of the sheath and the knife?

BTW, the Scrapyard is OUT OF STOCK on the M-6's.

In was a glitch in the system.

Sorry if anyone got excited about 'em !
