G'day guys,

So I finally did it, I finally ponied up the $220 for a brand new paramilitary (I live in Australia) and after some light use i noticed some superficial scratches on either side of the satin blade.

This seems odd to me as I thought s30V was tough stuff, not sure what actually caused this to occur, the scratches are very light but visible if looked at from some angles.

Any tips on getting rid of them?

Cheers!

Hi buddy! Use that fine knife or use a fine scotch-brite pad and lightly rub in the direction of the grind. Rub in one direction, not back and forth.

Did you expect to use it and have it remain like new?

You don't get both.

What Lycosa suggested will get rid of them...but using it will give you new ones.

Perfectly normal, if you look at most used blades, you wonder where the scratches are  but they hardly show up if you photograph them ;)

Just enjoy your knife...

Nope. All these pictures you see of perfect looking knives? They haven't been used .

I love when people talk about what great hard use knives they know their coated knives are, and in their pictures, the coating is immaculate.

As mentioned earlier don't worry about them, I scratched up my new-ish Spyderco techno the other day, but you just got to look at them as giving the knife personality. Also Im a little curious, where did you pick up your PM2 for that price (Im in Australia too).

Tips on getting rid of them? Use it like you stole it and cover them up with more scratches
Expensive down under aren't they? Mate, I reckon they're worth it. Wouldn't be without mine. Hope you enjoy yours.

G'day mate, the seller on ebay is scalableltd, he is an aussie and is very helpful. Also cutting edge knives have the same one I got for $230.00

Cheers.

I don't want to see you catch an infraction for something so trivial as posting the place where you purchased your knife. Since they aren't supporting members, it might be seen as deal spotting.

Shoot him an email or a visitors message containing the address.

On topic, use it and let it get scratched up. It will show a lifetime of use and have its own stories.

Think of those scratches as the wrinkles on an old tradesmans hands. Each mark earned over a lifetime and showing its character and capabilities.

Use them, earn them and appreciate them.

I'm with NJBillK and marcinek. Your knife earned those scratches just like you earned your scars. Let 'er wear 'em and show 'em off.

Or don't! Nothing wrong with a pristine "safe queen" either.

Its just that one cannot have both in the same knife.

Regardless of what you see in the EDC threads in here, the blade is supposed to be scratched.

Unless you are buying it only to hang it on the wall.
