SDFK is Glorious

Is anyone else as impressed with the SDFK sheath as I am?

Let's be honest, a lot of knife Makers are great at producing some amazing blades...but their Kydex sheaths flat-out SUCK. (*I think I "get" Jerry Busse's angle on included sheaths, now)

Man, when Nathan posted, "Comes with one of the best sheaths in the business.", he wasn't lying. I wouldn't want to replace my SDFK sheath with anything else.

He musta' stolen a sheath Maker from some professional Kydex outfit.

One of the reasons I like CPKs are the Kydex sheaths. They are as good as it gets, IMHO.

Is he the Maker?

If he is, I'm raising a Jack & Zero to him right now.

Man, on a separate note, that vertical drain hole is pure genius...and practical as hell. (*not to mention very good-lookin')

*I don't worry too much about 3V and rust. But, it's nice to know that I can hang this thing from the tractor ROPS or flatbed bulkhead and not have to worry about it.

Yes. Busy man, though.

The other guy that makes sheaths of similar quality, IMO, is VJT VJT .

I've had 2 used FK2s that had significant rust under the scales and were otherwise clean. So if you use your knives a lot outside, I suggest to put frog lube or similar under the scales.

Or....

Since that rust will never accumulate to any degree that will ever cause any problem you could just leave your scales on and don't look at it. It doesn't matter. The end result is the same. It's in aesthetic issue on a surface that you cannot see, unless you take it apart to look at it. I recommend just don't look at it.

I take any used knife new to me apart and clean it. Part of my OCD, I guess. Then again, I have to make sure there is no earwax :)

Not taking away from ferider, but I agree. (*and I've got the "OCD" thing covered enough for ALL of us)

With my limited beatings, the scales on my SDFK haven't moved so much as a micron. So, rather than tempt fate, I'm just gonna' not screw with 'em until that time comes. (*if it ever comes) To be honest, what I can't see won't hurt me.

Beyond the above, I have developed quite a love of 3V. For a "tool steel", it's about as "stainless" as anyone could ever ask for. I have a coupla' Barky Crusaders that have been "rode hard and put up wet" on the regular, and have never had any issues with 'em. A little luvin' with some Brasso and a shop rag brings 'em right back to "new". 🤷‍♂️

*I have a really large 5160 blade that Justin Gingrich and I took months designing. Beyond the sheath, my only other complaint is that the scales shift after just a few beatings. If I could find a "light" epoxy to keep 'em stagnant, without damaging the G10 scales, I'd be in hog heaven. I've thought about "Elmer's Glue-All", but don't really know if that's the answer.

Way ahead of you my liege! I had taken the above boldened suggestion to heart many moons ago and I just don't look, touch, caress, ogle, etc... I just put 'em all in the drawers and leave 'em be... They belong together in my impromptu semi-museum, the shrine which I have dedicated to you me! Heck, I don't even open the white boxes any more because I am thinking entombed time capsules for posterity and for winners. You could be sending me rocks from the bottom of your creek, but what do I care? It is from you, so we are all good. Yeah, my obsession may be getting carried away heading toward creepster realm just a tad but nary a worry, it's all under control!
