here's a few pics of my 2 most recent additions...:D

this one arrived about a week ago, but i just lagged on pics... it's an EDC knife made by Scott Long, of www.runningdeerforge.com this one is almost identical to C Bryant's...

it sports a super sharp 3 in. O1 blade, 1/8 thick.. the handle scales are made from "Honey Bloodwood", with SS pins and lanyard tube... the scales have a nice brown-ish tint to them...

this is a perfect little hiking or EDC style fixed blade... it is super comfortable in the hand.. i definately recommend you guys check out Scotts work...

i just got this little gem in the mail today...

it is made by a fellow BF member SDS... i have wanted to check out Shawn's work for a long time now.. i have always thought that his designs/knives looked super clean and functional...

i was really impressed with this one when i opened the package... the fit and finish are spot on... it's just my style.. i'm a sucker for a small fixed blade like these...
it's got a 3 in. 154CM blade, 3/16 thick i believe, nice osage scales with SS pins and lanyard... the clip point blade has a slight forward bend to it, as well as a swedge along the front of the spine.. the handle also has a slight bend to it, allowing for a solid grip... it feels like it just nestle's right into my palm..

Shawn and i both agreed that this knife would make a great "bowhunters companion"... i have a feeling this won't be my last blade from him too... :o

once again, i amazed at the quality and craftmanship of the knifemakers here on BF... both of these guys were really cool and super easy to work with.. thanks again guys...

oh... i also ordered both of these knives without sheaths, so that's more and more leather i have to work on now... hopefully i can get those made soon...

cheers.. mike

both of those look great. scotts work looks nice, i like the rugged look. i really like shaws stuff to. i got to handle some of his stuff at a gunshow, and it was great. i hope to get one some time. i also like that he is local.

I love your taste in knives Mike, that first especially looks great ! My taste in knives have had some dramatic changes in recent years but they are now much the same as yours and I enjoy traditional patterns with wooden handle slabs and an old-timey feel !!!

thanks pit.. i have noticed that your taste in knives has now shifted... way to go... i like nice and simple knives...

Mike - it's funny you post about SDS. I just made a thread about him because I got a new blade in the mail from him today. I've got two blades by him and love them both.

Great knifes you've got there. That bowhunter's special is sweet!!

They both look really knife. I like the first one a touch more, but also really like the curvature of the SDS. Kind of reminds me of a David Farmer for some reason. Nice stuff!

Nice scores Mike. They bothe look like they would be real handy tools!

KGD-- i thought it kind of reminded me of a Farmer for a minute too..:D it's a great little blade.. i keep picking it up to play with it... very light and agile feeling...

Tony-- you would dig both of these man...

Nice score! They look simple and functional.

Always good to see other BF member's knives. I'm currently finalizing my fourth design. The first two need to be drilled and heat treated, and the third one needs to be profiled. I'm really excited to see how they all come out.

For sure, you always bring new knives to check out. I talked to Nate too and we should definitely arrange something. Work has been real slow lately and school will pick up, so soon would be a great time. I'd like to get some feedback from my work too.

Mike, thank you and everyone else here for the kind words. I very much enjoy making the knives but I think hearing from the end-users is the most satisfying part for me.

I'm very much looking forward to the gear your working on for me. I'm ready to get out and start losing some arrows!

Stay safe,
Shawn S.

Nice scores Mike. I really like the Scott Long knife. His website mentions some "100 year old air-dried walnut" scale material that he has available. How cool is that? His site is now in my favorites. :D

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. Some info on the walnut, It was cut down by my great-grandfather and used in his barn back in Winchester Virginia. The boards were later given to my grandfather then to my dad and now to me. I decided to use one of the boards for a few knives. Think it really gives it a warm feel, reminds me of the stock on my Grandfathers old Winchester shotgun.
Cheers, Scott

Both knives look great Mike  I think I'm a bit partial to the SDS one myself. Shoot me a line if you guys get together in SJ again!

That is very cool Scott. The backstory always adds a new dimension to the finished product. I noticed on the website that you aren't currently taking orders. If that changes please let me know.
