Sea World bans knives

Here is the repsonse from SeaWorld to my email regarding their policy:

Thank you for your email.  While our sincere desire is to please every guest,
our first commitment is for the safety of the millions of guests that visit us
each year. Therefore, since the first day we opened our gates in 1964, our
policy is to prohibit weapons, including knives, from entering the park. We do,
however, permit first responders, i.e. a sworn, recognized law enforcement
officer to retain their assigned weapon during their visit.

In heightening our security, we have included bag checks in our daily
operational security procedures.
To allow guests the opportunity to decide if they wish to enter the park within
our guidelines, we distribute the following flyer at our tollbooths.  "Please be
aware you will have your bags inspected by our staff and metal detection
equipment may be in use.  You can assist this process by leaving all
non-essential items including large bags, backpacks and metal objects in your
vehicle.  As a reminder weapons, knives or any other sharp objects are not
permitted in the park."

If we can assist you in the future, please feel free to call our toll free
number at 1-800-25-SHAMU or email us at SWC.GuestRelations@Seaworld.com

Thanks Fire Horse,

I'm not so peeved at Sea World anymore, just their over-zealous security gaurds that over-stepped their authority. Sea World has every right, as a private company, to restrict access to anyone they like. Although I do no agree with their policy, and still won't be going anytime soon (hell, I live in Atlanta), I am no longer viewing them as I had in a previous post to this thread.

Still, I think we need to be on alert about things like this. Those of you that live in/near San Diego should also call the cust. service line at Sea World and complain about their security gaurds over-reaching their authority and confiscating their customer's property.

I hope anyone that hears of similar incidents goes ahead and starts a new thread to let us all know what's going on. I'll keep my eyes and ears wide open too.

Its all BS! Before 9/11 they would say,"its for the children" when they wanted to restrict our rights.Today its "because of 9/11".Horse crap!People who don't like knives or guns or the people who carry them are now using 9/11 as an excuse.

Its funny but the same places are also banning thermos bottles and food because of 9/11,or could it be they want to sell more of there over priced food?

Last Sunday we were at our local arena for a cheerleading tourniment. It was from 10A.M. till 4P.M. You could not bring in food or drink and you could not leave without buying a new ticket.Security or food sales? They also "searched" us:rolleyes: ,my wife left her Micra with photon at home but forgot to remove her large can of pepper spray, they missed it.I also walked right in with my emerson CQC7,in the row in front of me was a friend who is a cop, he had his gun.My wife says,he's a cop, true but the fact is he never had to tell them because they never found it!!

Also during the show I went out a set of side doors for some air, there were no guards there,I could have let a whole army with m16's and flame throwers in that door. But don't try to bring a Micra through the front door:barf:
