seal pup

My son has one. The serrations and large ricaso I don't care for but the ergonomics are perfect. The steel is AUS-6A and sharpens up like a dream.(The earlier ones were marketed as 440A but were really AUS-6A). The sheath is the first run cordura but could really use a reinforced bottom if used by paratroopers. I understand that the newer sheaths are kydex and it's ok to jump with that material. The SEAL Pup seems to sell very well. I can see why. Nice knife. I noticed that ACE hardware now sells them for a great price.

Your son has one?? Hmmm... How old is he? I wouldn't buy a knife longer than 3.5" for my son if he was 10 years old... :o

K, I just got a Seal Pup from ebay to go along with my Seal 2000. Anybody got any news on the piggyback sheath?

i`m in australia , and unfortunately theres a lot more non knifing public then there is knife nuts like me :( so people don`t really make custom knife sheaths , unless i oreder one from america and pay for it with a money order. but i can dream. same a s we dont get the revolver , tigershark , or recondo or any of the NEW sog knives over here.

Now that I have both the SOG Seal 2k and the Seal Pup, I'm sending out queries to custom sheath makers.

I'm asking for a combination carry sheath for both knives, with the Pup piggybacked on the 2k. I'm thinking also of maybe another piggyback -- for a folder, if it isn't overkill.

Maybe I can put the SOG Trident folder on it. However it could be any of my other folders, too, as I'm not as sold on the Trident as my folder of choice as I am with the SOG fixed blades above.

He's young. The knife sits in my safe and will not be used by him until he's older. Thanks for your concern.:p

Nabbed myself a Pup off eBay a couple of months back, new, with the old-style sheath (I've heard the newer one isn't so good).

Superb knife, just the right size for everyday stuff right up to more tactical uses, and the sheath is superb. I needed an extender to drop it down low enough off my belt to clear my tactical vest, but the Tactical Assault Gear one is perfect.

Can't fault this knife at all, it's spot on, especially considering the money I paid for it (i.e. very little!).

I'm currently looking at buying a GovTac, anyone used one of those already? Is it better than the 'old'Government, or comparable?

I handled one at a gun show. It is farrrrr superior to the Government model. I just ordered one and I plan on putting a satin finish on it.
