Camp knife, and my personal proof of the relationship between the High Carbon tang stamp, and Sears, Roebuck & Co.
The tang is stamped High Carbon, and even though some goof tried to sand it off, the blade is etched Craftsman Sta- Sharp.DB58F2C1-2549-4B81-BFED-9993A8EE8ABD.jpeg

I have one more Craftsman knife, but I can't show it because it is my Precious, and if I ever see another one to buy, I don't want any competition. :D

The rare version of a 165OT/165UH made for Sears had a brass pommel plate over hidden-tang construction, advertised as weatherproof, or something to that effect. They dropped the idea quickly. It was a spin-off from the 153UH and 49rs series construction. From then on they went to the regular 165OT/UH slab-handle version.

Now I’m confused. I always thought the Schrade 165 was called the Woodsman, while they called the 15 the Deerslayer. Now your Sears version of the 165 (which I also have, but in the slab handled version), is labeled Deerslayer…

Have I had it backwards all this time, or is this just a Sears thing?

That is lovely.

Cal, you’ve reminded me that I forgot to include my Craftsman Whittler!

Jeff my friend- Thank you, I will be staying on the Sears road for good now and continuing learning as much as I can.

Augie- Two nice examples matey, That 9474 Trapper is in stunning condition, note the sharp scroll type font of STA-SHARP on the tang- This is what fascinates me with Sears as there are so many doorways and tunnels, that Font I see here and there, they did s many changes and your Trapper wouldn't have had any Etches- where some people mention that the Etches may have worn- not all Sears had etches - but they sported the Sears owned Brand name on the Tang.

That's a Barlow I haven't seen much, most early Sears Barlows are the Kwick Kut or Fulton's - not the Sta-Sharp - Nice my friend!

Thank you for sharing Augie!
