SEARS KNIFE WORLD

Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund - Jeff, How cool you got to work in there- and to but some of the knives when younger- thats great- and awesome that you still have that Knife today - thank you for sharing that valued timepiece of yours.

In the following page- You made me sit up with your group of Knives from Sears my friend- that so cool, and yean that stockman you say is your nicest is a real nice knife- you can see why I am not going to jump off this road, this one and the Harness Jack Highway are my two main routes ( I have about 50 other side roads of brands patterns 🤣 )
Cal is right- Sears did mix it up= Schrade did call the bigger Knife the Deerslayer and yet Sears called the 165 the Deerslayer, yet another example of the hundreds of small twists that make this study an interesting one.

Jeff that lovely Camp Knife- yes your right, The Tang Stamp I used to think some time ago- as well as many others - until pointed out that the High Carbon Steel isnt a name but a SEARS owned Brand name and Camillus had exclusive rights for the use of this Brand Name- as well as STA-SHARP was an Brand name owned by Sears and gave exclusive rights to Camillus to use that.

Now you see that when Craftsman came in ( late41) 1942, you see STA-SHARP actually under the Craftsman Headliner- and now the newer arrival of CHROME VANADIUM which was the Sears owned Brand name used exclusively by the new arrival of Ulster- Albeart Baer now owned Ulster and had recently left Camillus under a cloud and it was game on - Albert Baer had the relationship with Sears before this and you see this interesting transition within the Catalog pages.....
This is kind of like Heroin to me lol.

Nice grouping :)

Cal- Oh to be a fly on the wall when it's maintenance day on your collection!!

Stunning examples my friend- That first Fixed Blade the Heavy Skinner is gorgeous, if one thought to collect ALL the sears Knives - I think that would be impossible now - there were so so many different versions- even in the same number that a knife may have had ( for example 9507etc)

Speaking of that lovely 9507 Stockman - that was advertised in 1939 for $0.95 cents - wow! because that's just a gorgeous example of the Quality of the Camillus knives supplied to Sears.
Oh man... your examples of the fixed Blades are just amazing- Thank you for sharing Cal. ( there's that Sheath ).

Here is a lovely Schrade 293 for Craftsman which I received from Roland.

Good on Roland- I think of him a lot, I bet you do too Cal, Nice example- the longer number 94713 etch comes from later Sears advertising- and another example of with sears massive Marketing machine - they owned their Brand Names to make all these beautiful Knives a Sears Knife- not a Schrade, not a Camillus - the public were to believe Sears made these- plain ol' Marketing- but then they at times let in a knife with the Manufacturer Tang stamp in.
That's a nice example Cal - thanks for sharing these.

Cal aren't those Ulster and Camillus Four Bladed Cattles just monsters and gorgeous Knives- those two are stunning my friend.

That three bladed Stockman 9475 Craftsman is an Ulster- the Chrome Vanadium Etch was used exclusively by Ulster and is a darned beautiful knife Cal.

This craftsman lockback is a mystery to me. I found it someplace, probably fishing, and my wife took position a long time ago.

She used this primarily for food prep while picnicking, camping and hiking with the kids.

This knife still has some life left in it.

That's made by Imperial my friend, I was about to buy a knife like yours with the Sears Branding as well as an Imperial branded Imperial to display together - but I can spend all my money on a never ending example display - I would never have enough money to do this.

Jeff my friend- Thank you, I will be staying on the Sears road for good now and continuing learning as much as I can.

Augie- Two nice examples matey, That 9474 Trapper is in stunning condition, note the sharp scroll type font of STA-SHARP on the tang- This is what fascinates me with Sears as there are so many doorways and tunnels, that Font I see here and there, they did s many changes and your Trapper wouldn't have had any Etches- where some people mention that the Etches may have worn- not all Sears had etches - but they sported the Sears owned Brand name on the Tang.

That's a Barlow I haven't seen much, most early Sears Barlows are the Kwick Kut or Fulton's - not the Sta-Sharp - Nice my friend!

Thank you for sharing Augie!

Thank you Duncan, always wondered why the trapper did not have an etch considering its condition.

Thanks, Duncan! Yes, indeed ~ many twists and turns in the addiction.

Fantastic idea on looking up the old catalogs!

Here is a gorgeous Peach Seed Whittler, if you look back at Cals lovely Bone Handled Trapper - Post #146 ( Page 8 ), then my post about that Knife in post #163 - Sears did have a few Knives into their stock with the actual Manufacturer Tang Stamps- instead of a sears Brand name, this Whittler is one of those Knives.
Craftsman Whittler from 1947...

Here is an example of a Knife made for Sears, manufactured in Germany, Sears had quite a few manufacturers doing work for them in their time, here is a very nice high quality example in beautiful Jigged Bone, a small Knife but slightly bigger than a Case Peanut sized Knife.

The intriguing thing about this Knife is that it has Sears Owned DUNLAP tang Stamp in Oval form ( there were a few different Dunlap Tang Stamping styles ), Dunlap was offered as a 2nd Tiered option, I see nothing 2nd Tier in the making of this Knife....... another wee twist that Sears offers us- very interesting.

Lovely Grind on the Blade, Beautiful Jigged Bone and masterful Walk and Talk

I saw the stacked leather Western Boulder for Sears in an earlier post; I had forgotten that connection. They sent a number of bone-handled fixed blade #39 patterns (with the shark fin spine) to Sears, also. Dang; I don't have one. Western States and Western Boulder made some fine stuff.

Cal that Peachseed is a beauty - very nice!!!
Love that photo of Roland😊👍

Oh yeah…. It would be great to get hold of one of those Stag Westerns- and your right Cal they made some very nice Knives 👍

Thank you everyone sharing your awesome Knives- it's really satisfying seeing the Sears Knives come out and be displayed.

Getting back to the Composite theme, check this sweet example, Handle material described as "Plastic Stag type" you could buy this from the 1955 catalog for $1.95

I am sure if I had a time machine it would have to be highly spec'd out to handle quite a few tons of weight for my return trips........
