Sebanza owners....Why did you sell yours??

Had many go through my hands.Overrated knife for the money."The Grey ****".
Keep the Custom guys busy.:) :) :)
Happy:D

I sold my large when I realized for another $100 I could have a real handmade custom.

Though I have been admiring those leather inlay's, hmmmmmmmm...;)

Sold a small I got in trade to buy a large, it'll get passed down the bloodline someday.

Also sold an old "P" Sebenza because I can't stand to have a knife around that I won't use, and I just couldn't bring myself to use it. Too purty.

My large is EDC, and the Umfaan is for occasions. Still trying to justify getting a small...

Last year I sold both a large and small regular. I was just not really using them because, at the time, I felt that they were too expensive to really "use". Now I have both a large and small classic that really get put to task daily. This time around I decided that why buy one of the best and toughest knives if you are not going to use it?

Have a small classic that I use as EDC. Probably won't sell it but it will be replaced by a medium customized TnT that I am getting from Tom. Better ergonomics, better blade material, and you can get it exactly how you like it.

Jazzman, huh?

Are you saying it's a mistake to buy a knife then not use it?

.............but some you plan on keeping!:D Sitting here trying to figure it up I guess I've sold about 8. Of course that means I've bought more than 8 since I now have 3. Most of the 8 were plain jane models and all were larges. Two of those were woodys, both large, with one being a 2000 ironwood and the other being a 2001 bocote. I still have a large 2001 ironwood and two large Classics with one being a wood inlaid and the other being a leather inlaid model. Early on I sold most of them to buy other custom knives and soon realized that the Sebenza was a more precisely built knife than any other! Most recently I've sold a couple to raise some money for other projects.

Of the three I still have I think the 2001 ironwood would be the last one I would get rid of. I plan on keeping the leather inlaid Classic as it is my edc, and I absolutley love carrying and using it. The jury is still out on the wod inlaid Classic. I like it, but don't be surprised to see it on sale!

Oh yeah I also owned and sold a large blue leather inlaid Classic. Guess that makes nine.

Man when I saw the ads for the Sebenza when they first appeared I KNEW I had to have one, but at the time it was out of my reach, low low funds, common song we all seem to know, but then I got one! Loved it, then got another and another, ended up with over 9 Sebenzas in my Stable, then I was struck by another viral infection, namely Home Theater Virus, very strong, so off almost all my collection went, about all for less than I paid but then I figure what I lost was just a small rental fee ;)

I did keep one, the small Classic in BG42, now a respected knife maker I know, won't mention Rick Hinderer's name as he'd get a swelled head...but he claims to really love that BG42 steel and that's saying a lot from a died in the wool hammer head guy like him. He said he'd still offer S30V but really likes that BG42 stuff a lot! So I'm not anxious to off load mine any time soon....hint to you guys that may be thinking about upgrading to that new steel.

So why did I sell my Sebenzas? Money but then I did keep one remaining and have plans on getting a Large Classic in a few months, she needs a big sister ya know!

And as the other posts claim, most all didn't sell because of any flaws or defects, it is one tough knife, no doubt.

ps
I would sell my small Classic in a heart beat if Chris would come out with a nice wharncliffish one in that size though...:D

Dave, I think what Jazzman is saying is that he is not sure why he sold his Sebenza and that selling it was a big mistake. That's what I took the post to mean anyway.
