Hello! Looking for some advice, I’m going to try and describe this issue as best I can. So when I deploy the blade anywhere between right when it opens to where the detent ball catches it at the end if I’m holding the hand and grab the tip of the blade and move the blade up and down (vertically) there is a hitch/play and it should be smooth and I don’t know what’s wrong

When you open the blade in one continuous motion, do you experience the same thing ?
When the blade clears the detent ball right before it locks open, there is no resistance on the blade like when it's on the detent ball. Are you sure the hitch isn't the detent ball trying to jump back on the blade ? If you close the blade with the lock bar/detent ball clearing the blade, does it drop shut ? Have you examined the inside of the lock bar to make sure it isn't boogered up ?

Don't have a clue what you mean by play in the blade.
Most of the 21's I have will drop shut if I push the lock bar over enough to clear the blade, not all of them though. Those along with my 25's/Inkosi's don't drop shut and have the same feel no matter how slow they're opened.

Diagnosis over internet is hard enough, it’s impossible without some pictures or better a short video describing what you’re concern is.

Can I post a video? Or send you one I’m new to these forums

I wish I could send you a video, yes it drops free but this has more to do with tolerances issue

I'm not seeing what you're describing. I know it's frustrating trying to explain. Can you set the knife on the counter, hold it steady and work it from there. I'm seeing both of your hands moving in the video and can't really see any issue.
It may be hard to capture, you can always send it in. IMO, it would be best to call CRK to get the info for sending it in even though it's on their web site.

I have tried the same kind of action on my large 21s and I think I understand what you are experiencing

it is not a « play » on mines but it is more about rubbing the detent ball on the blade. and if I open them in a slow and continuous motion they are completely smooth

the blade don’t have any « vertical play » (in the direction of the scales « axis »)

is you pivot tighten?

Totally normal. There is intentional play in the pivot, when the knife is neither open nor closed, in the vertical direction, for a number of reasons.

Every single 21 I own, which is many, is exactly like this from new.

Without this play, the knife would seize due to expansion or contraction of the blade when temperature changes. When there is no ball-bearing, an amount of play is required.

Crazily, I know what you’re talking about...and it’s fine. It’s hard to describe and sometimes notice because of how subtle it is. But this movement/feeling doesn’t fit the definition of play.

Oh thank you I’m glad to see someone knows what I’m talking about, so you have this on your sebenzas?

It actually got so bad that it started making a ticking noise along with the play

Again, it’s not blade play. The blade is secure and moving properly. See kidcongo’s post above. IMO his explanation applies. As far as sound goes maybe something else is happening while you’re moving the blade? Or are you hearing the ball detent and blade in action? Any screws (on your knife ;)) loose?
