They are identical but that one may have a problem. I was just thinking move that one to a less important spot like out back and see how things look.

when you say "when there is no ball bearing" do you mean that the knife is in washers and not ball bearings? I think you are right though that the "play" is necessarily and I think it actually comes from the blade tang interacting with the detent ballTotally normal. There is intentional play in the pivot, when the knife is neither open nor closed, in the vertical direction, for a number of reasons.
Every single 21 I own, which is many, is exactly like this from new.
Without this play, the knife would seize due to expansion or contraction of the blade when temperature changes. When there is no ball-bearing, an amount of play is required.
Yeah I’ll probably use it for a year or so then send it for a spa@OP - just send it in if you are not comfortable, after all it’s your knife. You are gonna get “it’s normal, it’s fine” here mostly, it’s pretty much a fan forum.
If you don’t think a knife of this price should have this issue, given that other examples don’t have the same issue, send it in. Or don’t, if you are comfortably convinced it’s normal. Do whatever makes you happy.
Yes. When a knife has a washer-type pivot and not ball bearing based pivot.when you say "when there is no ball bearing" do you mean that the knife is in washers and not ball bearings? I think you are right though that the "play" is necessarily and I think it actually comes from the blade tang interacting with the detent ball
Yeah I’ve notice non of my ball bearings have it but all my washer knives with a framelock have it, someone told me it’s the detent ball interacting with the blade tang. Cool stuff I didn’t even know, thanks for your commentYes. When a knife has a washer-type pivot and not ball bearing based pivot.
