Sebenza 25 in car wreck

Last night my roommate and I were driving back to school after break and somehow ended up on the tail end of an 8 car pile up. We ended up with the drivers side of the car landing on the ground, had it not been for the guard rail who knows how far we would have rolled. Anyway, after asking each other if we were ok we needed a way out. I took out my Sebenza 25 and started pounding on the sunroof to no avail. Someone came by with a hammer and managed to crack the windshield but stopped because the car next to us was on fire. I grabbed the Sebenza and pounded like no other, holding it so hard in fact that the jimping cut my own hand. It didn't do much but it helped make a hole, which I then kicked out with my boots. I was in the passenger seat and slid out. My roommate was driving and his airbag didn't deploy but he managed to follow me out of the hole.
By some miracle and possibly some divine intervention we walked away with no injuries. As for the Sebenza its just scratched up a bit at the point near the pivot, opens like a charm and now has some added character. Did it help? I think so, at least a little and in that situation was good enough for me!

Fantastic to hear that you both walked away! I hope you both don't have any longer term issues.

Regarding the 25, that is some great news! Good to know just how well the knives are designed and built. Another comfort about having a 21 in my pocket.

Wow! Good to hear you both are ok.

Did the guy with the hammer run towards the car on fire or ditch and run away? Either way hold onto that Sebenza, your grandkids may want to hear about it one day. You should pass this story onto the CRK sub-forum.

We never managed to find the person who was banging on the windshield. By the time we got out of the car I think the fire was out as well. I spoke to just about everyone in the cars and a few of the firefighters, not a single person had any idea who started to break the glass. In fact we later found the hammer they used, I thought it was odd they just dropped it, left, and never even came back for it.

Man did this happen near Purdue in Indiana ? Just asking because of your user name and glad you both are OK.

Wow, super glad to hear you're ok! And as others have said, that 21 is DEFINITELY a keeper!!

Glad you made it out! Now you have a story to match those marks on the knife:)

Jeeeeeez!!
Hold onto that blade bro!
Glad you guys got out under your own power!

Pictures, or it didn't happen.

Seriously though it would be cool to see the knife and glad to hear you are ok. Did you cut the seatbelt? I think I would have, just to say I used it in a rescue.

I am pretty sure that the fact he pounded it into a windshield enough to create a hole to kick further out constitutes as a rescue scenario.

He'd just been in a wreck. I'd imagine he would have been more concerned with getting himself and his roommate out as safely and quickly as possible than being able to tell people he cut the seatbelt.

My first reaction was that we were going to get hit from the rest of the highway.
So no I unbuckled out of reflex and it was probably the safer thing to do apposed to cutting the seatbelt. My end was up in the air i fell down onto the driver, having an open knife would not have helped there.
I would upload pics but i don't know how and the end result at least for the knife was not that exciting, just a few good scratches some deep.
And yes we were headed back to Purdue, had 10 miles to go until our exit.

Cool story! This is one more reason I have a Benchmade Triage in my car at all times. Not so much for when I get in a wreck, but if I roll up on one.

Glad you guys are OK and hope everyone else in the pile up got out safely as well!
