The Sebenza 25 Limited prototypes are to be sold soon. I talked to Heather @ CRK today and she said they are putting peoples name into a hat/lottery on Monday the 25th to determine who is lucky enough to get one of the numbered pieces.

At 2500 a piece it should be a very valuable collectors piece; plus a sweet looking new knife.

If you are lucky enough to get one, do you use it ever?

Good luck to all those trying to get one.

There ain't no way in hell i would pay anything close to that for a Sebenza. I can have a maxed out, bad to the bone custom made by one of the best knife makers in the world, for $800+. Freaking stupid.

I'm sure there will be 25 happy owners out there, but I will not be one of them.

I will stick to the plain, I think.

when i saw the title i thought...i like lotteries...then i saw the price and i thought of "The Lottery"... a short story by Shirley Jackson....moral was that winning the lottery wasnt necessarily a good thing.

When is the plain release? Sorry if that is a stupid question, I just can't seem to pin down an answer. We don't know?

Price too steep for my income for a numbered one, wouldn't be interested anyway. I prefer plain!

I will pass on the lottery. At that price I would rather go to Hawaii.

Look forward to the production versions coming out this Fall.

Hopefully there will be some available at the upcoming California Custom knife show in October.

In my mind's eye, I thought the "25" would have been something like the 21st Anniversary knife. Rare Damascus, special inlays, etc. I would have paid the money for that perhaps. But not this. It will no doubt be an exceptional knife, but that just doesn't make sense.

I don't really want a sebenza with a graphic of... A sebenza on it. I know it's a proto and so on, but 6x the price?

Except for the slightly better ergos, I'm on the fence about the design. Seems like they're turning a Sebbie into a Stryder. I want a good slicing blade and not a pry bar.

I will buy a plain one when it becomes available or even better a mircarta inlayed one if they make them but will skip the $2.5k version.
It will be interesting to see if they have 25 names to put into that hat. Everyone may be a winner in this lottery.

BINGO!!!! There's nothing wonderful about it that all of us won't own in 6 months.

I heard there was a lottery for them while I was at blade so I entered. once I was done and about to walk away the girl goes" they are $2500 Did I mention that or did I forget? I said wow Ok thanks. I am now hoping I dont win cause It just doesn't do it for me for that price.

I collect Sebenzas. I will have one. I don't want to look back ten years from now and have missed this opportunity.

Are they custom? Or just regular CGG?

Even if it was completely hand made by Chris himself, $2500 is stretching the value here.

They are too risky at that price....

The prototypes (i am thinking of the Umnunzaan proto) do not have a good history of holding their value so unless you really want one just for the sake of having it (which is OK) I cannot see the value or point.

The Annuals are a much better bet.....

BS. Even if dipped in gold with a rare smaill South African diamond.....Think of how many other CRK's or specialized CRK's you could get for that?
