SEBENZA 25 LOTTERY? Are you excited.

yeah, if I had $2500, I could own alot of different Sebies and have my own collection. I will definately pass on this one!

BBQ Boy, you said you can get a custom guy to make you something sweet for 800 or so, if true I would love his name.

Also figured these are one of a kind so I am in for one and it seems I have locked one down for now.

It is steep, but hey when your single ...... why the heck not!

Is this a serious question? Look around, Custom makers are everywhere, I just got a custom in yesterday that is amazing and only cost me $500. I have seen a lot of amazing customs around $800.

Sadly it is a serious question. I am new to CRK and higher end knives. Don't know much about custom makers and haven't researched it yet. Read many of your posts here and thought you might point me in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ok. Sorry if I cam off like a jerk. CRK is who CRK is, One of the bet there ever was and ever will be. He is the reason why so many custom makers are able to make the special knives they can. CRK is truly a groundbreaker in the industry. I will NEVER, EVER , take anything away from him and his company. I am one of his biggest fans. I don't feel like this is the place to converse over other makers. We can PM about all of that.

These are considered as prototypes I believe. Not sure who did the work although they would tell you if you asked I imagine.

I can swing some expensive knives sometimes....but $2500?

I'll be happy with the production model when its in my hands:thumbup::D

Perhaps if it had a Devin Thomas Double High Carbon Damascus blade in a unique pattern such as firestorm. Even this would not be enough to offset my dislike of the graphics though. I would really need to like the look of a knife to spend that much.
25 sounds like a relatively high quantity for that extreme pricing, IMO.

I collect Sebenzas. I will have one. I don't want to look back ten years from now and have missed this opportunity.

There is wisdom there, for sure, and it is evidenced in your amazing CRK collection. There's just not enough intestinal fortitude on my side to justify it at this point.

How much did the Umnumzaan protos go for?

$1750 in 2008, the year it won Blade's Overall Knife of the Year.

Are these full custom Sebenzas or hand ground and hand built by Chris himself?

CRK would have to answer your question definitively, but if they followed the previous tracks Chris would have made the majority of the knife parts himself through experimentation and "tinkering" with the details. There is also the high probability that some of the features on the prototypes will change slightly in the production models, i.e. the sharpened swedges on the Umnumzaan proto's. These will be undoubtedly be desirable knives in the future, so everyone has to make their own value judgement.

Damn, I may be talking myself into it now. :o

Seriously $2500? I give my head a shake whenever I spend that much on a custom knife from GTC, Sibert, Cook et al.

I collect Sebs, Mnandi's and a few Umnumzaans too. Most I spent on a LE, Damascus with awesome Mammoth Ivory bark was $900 give or take. Those are collectible IMHO.

If I recall correctly, everyone who bought a Proto Umnumzaan lost money on them when they tried to resell them.

I will sit by the river and wait for the regular production to come my way.

I agree with with James, there's a lot of knives that I would have loved to pick up when I had the chance. Should have could have would have. But I'll have to pass on this one. I do have the only left hand twenty first anniverary Seb. Wish I would have picked up more one piece knives and a couple more umfaans. Ten years from now I may kick myself but my daughters going to college, the wife needs a new car, house needs some fixing etc. CRK rocks! And more power to them. The Sebenza bug is a very hard addiction to kick. I've limited myself lately to one Large LE per year but that's gone. I will however put myself on a list for a regular 25. At some point you have to say enough is enough. You go brother James I really admire your collection!

So if I'm lucky enough to win the lottery... I still have to pay 2500 for a knife that costs 400? What is there to be excited about?
