Sebenza 31 Lock Rock?!

Well, if CRK scratched your knife why didn't you tell them?
And, no company should have and make original parts for an older product.
He sent it in and it came home worse. What’s the point of telling them? or sending it back again?

Cris Reeve the man, not the knife, at one time promised his customers that parts would be available. A knife for life. I was disappointed to find out that’s not true with the Ann&Tom show deciding not to routinely stock for older knives.

No way am I gonna read all of this.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I recently got a Large Sebenza 31 PJ, Magnacut Insingo.
I checked it for "lock rock" (or whatever the current buzz phrase is) and it has the slightest bit of movement.
The movement is the lock bar itself flexing. The ceramic ball on the blade tang doesn't move AT ALL!
It's as if I'm using a fixed blade.
Also checked my Slysz Bowie, same thing.
Does it bother me, NO!
BECAUSE IT DOESN'T AFFECT USAGE AT ALL!
Pretty sure every frame lock knife will exhibit "lock rock" if you lean on it hard enough.
To all you nervous nellies saying "for the price it should be PERFECT"; and those of you selling your Sebbies because of it,
I say "GET A LIFE! MOVE ON! THE SEBENZA ISN'T FOR YOU. THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER KNIVES OUT THERE!"
BTW, I still. think my Sebbie, and Slysz Bowie, are the 2 best knives I've ever owned/used/ handled.
They're the complete package.

PS: I'll bet every lock system will flex with enough force on the spine of the blade.
You just can't see/feel it as it's hidden by the scales.

There's the key... side play is one thing, "rock" is another, none of my 5 generations of Sebs . move enough to even be noticeable. With a 200+ lb. guy (sorry ladies) pushing on 3-4" of metal it's a good thing it gives slightly before breaking! B

I have a large micarta and a large maggasar ebony that are first runs if you would like to buy these perfect 31’s. No discount cause “they have no noticeable” flex that affect performance.

Interesting. My small 31 in S45VN has a tiny bit of up/down wiggle even with the lock bar depressed. Maybe wear in the spot the ceramic ball is set? Certainly doesn't alter function and zero worry about it unlocking.

There is no "lock rock" , this is just a myth inflated by the owners of this knife who are offended by the fact that they paid such a high price, and are looking for perfection in an imperfect world.

I own 2 CRK folders. Sebenza 21 and Sebenza 31. The 21 has been perfect for 5 years of owning it. Rock solid left right up down. Zero blade play or lock rocking.
The 31 I have had for 5 days. It is rock solid in every way. Zero play or lock rock. I love the new features of the 31. Ceramic ball and Magnacut. All good.

IMO: take it for what it’s worth.

The 31 does not have lock rock. That is established.

The fact is: the 31 has lock flex (like other framelocks) but is easier to make it flex.

Whether this is a plus or minus or negligible is yet to be seen.

So far I haven’t heard or seen of any 31 failing.
If the 31 is your cup of tea, go for it.

I think this thread may have run its course.
