Sebenza / Acies -- Comparison Pics

Wow, totally had forgotten about this thread and hadn't seen AG's response to my question (thanks for bumping it, alejandrino). That's GREAT news!

Tony,
I want to thank you for the outstanding review! After almost 4 months of EDC and constant play I like the clip better than ever and my Acies has become so slick that a thumb snap really flicks the blade out and the close is super smooth. We will be bead blasting the clips and hope to offer a bead blasted and Ti coated after market soon.

I moved my clip to the other end and use it to support my weakening little finger as I open the knife.

I wouldn't call the Acie a copy of the Sebenza, but it is definitely AG's interpretation of the Sebenza-style knife. There are a lot of things I like about the Acie, but for me the Sebenza was never about style. It was about engineering, fit and finish, and performance. Those are things I don't know about the Acie, especially relative to the Sebenza.

Thanks AG. The smoothness of opening and closing is amazing at this point. It really feels as though the pivot is loose, but it's just that smooth and the lockup is super tight. No play whatsoever. The clip has seriously grown on me and I love the deep pocket carry. If I can get a blasted Ti coated aftermarket clip that would be perfect. Right now the clip looks pretty good though. Since I hit it with the torch it has become pretty dark and doesn't have that shine to it anymore. As far as I'm concerned you knocked this one out of the park AG. Excellent job on this folder.

You just don't know until you get to use one for awhile.

I don't know why, but the Acies just doesn't ring with me. Not feeling it. It looks like a good knife, but I don't think I'll be picking this one up.

Hi guys -

I agree with Tony - I love my Acies. It has just gotten better as I have used it.

I have cut up large cardboard cartons from a new washer, opened boxes, trimmed branches from trees, sharpened sticks and carried the knife every day since I have had it.

My example could not be better in regards to fit-and-finish.

best regards -

I've never heard of the Acies, it looks like a cross between the Seb. and a Sage2. Nice knives.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it on this thread, but in the photos it looks like the Sebenza's blade is off-center. I know they would correct it if you sent it in, but doesn't this speak to "out of the box" fit and finish?

I don't know if it is off center, could be a illusion from the angle the picture was taken, but also it has an aftermarket scale on it which might have something to do with it being off-centered, if it is.

It's the angle of the shot. This Large Classic is perfectly centered whether the factory Ti scale is attached or the aftermarket CF scale is attached.
