Sebenza cardboard cut test

Tell me again what your bevels are sharpened to. !7 & 25 degress per side seems rather chunky for a folder. I sharpen my M4 steel Gayle Bradley to 15/20 on my Sharp Maker. It cuts very good. I am amazed, but not surprised at how well your knife cuts. That enough testing for me, unless you have a robot to do the job on some double walled cardboard.
I have a lansky sharpening system so its just what the numbers say on it, I am not sure if that is the actual angle or not.
How do you like the Gayle Bradley?

The Insingo blade is a wicked cutter !
I've been carrying a small one lately myself, and it cuts really great, but those larges are the real slicing demons.

Thanks for the test, and pics !

This is true testament to the Sebenza's excellent blade and edge geometry. It's not just about the steel, in fact it is more about hardness and the design of the blade and thickness behind the edge as well as the edge angles. Sebenza's have thin blades for excellent cutting and slicing.

I've done similar tests, very informally. I have read tests by other people, of knives with relatively esoteric steel, where they cut thousands of FEET of cardboard.

The way that cardboard is manufactured will give you inconsistent results for your "test". Some cardboard will be hell on an edge and some others will be like cutting paper. I'm not saying that the Seb is a bad knife; they are some of the best around IMO. All I'm saying is that a cardboard cutting test is far from "controlled".

Agreed.

Depends a ton on the material mix used to make the specific cardboard, and then there's this to consider as well....
There seems to be a trend between thicker = worse in terms of "grit" (my personal observation)

I could only get through three of these, they where about 2H X 4L X 2W (feet of course)

The Sebenza is an exceptional slicer, and I can cut thinner, less "gritty" cardboard forever...
