I really like the style of the Sebenza made by Chris Reeve.

I cannot afford the price, unfortunately. :(

That said, can anyone recommend a quality knife with the characteristics of a Sebenza?

Interested in a plain edge, lightweight model with a pocket clip, hole or stud in blade.

Thanks guys.

Mr. Reeve, if I could afford one, I would buy it.

You need to narrow things down a bit there Col. Cooper.

How much do you want to spend, and what do you want to do with your knife?

If it is the framelock you are looking for there are several that have incorporated the framelock.

Kershaw has many knives that might work including the vapor, vapor II, Storm, Storm II, Junk Yard Dog, Junk Yard Dog II, and several others.

If you can find an old Camillus CUDA EDC, they were great little framelocks.

Then there is the benchmade skirmish and mini skirmish (630 and 635). These are excellent, but more expensive.

Have fun in the hunt.

Oh and CRKT S2 knives if you can find one.

macgregor...you are a genius!!! I've always thought the Monochrome is the poor man's Sebenza. (Of course you say that and the Sebenza fans come after you with torches and pitchforks.)

But hey, its got a similar drop point blade, a frame lock, and decent steel.

Bradley Alias seems to be a very nice copy of the Sebenza, with the same
S30V steel and Titanium handles. I have the large Sebenza and my son has the large Bradley Alias. The Sebenza was $385 and the Bradley was $206.
I don't want to get into a war with Sebenza lovers, but the Bradley is a very nice folder, especially for 46% less $$. Not a Sebenza but very nice.

Any Benchmade I have had to date have been reliable.
Concerning the Bradley Alias - have not had one, but a member on the Forum once told me that he thought I should quit buying Sebs and get the Alias, as he had sold/handled many Bradleys and many Reeves - and the Bradley, in his opinion was made just as well as the Seb.
Again though I have never had or handled one, so can only pass along his opinion (which I respect).

A friend of mine here at work has a frame lock CE CRKT that he has EDCd for years with no issues, and he loves it. His model has the Stainless handles.

Good luck with your choice, and let us know what you decide on

Nice Frame locks (Comparability is subjective)
Bradley Alias I/II
Buck Mayo TNT
Benchmade Mini Skirmish
Spyderco Volpe
Kershaw ZDP/Ti Leek or Mini Cyclone

Another nice Ti framelock is the CRKT S-2, but they're getting harder and harder to come by. I don't know if it's Sebenzaish enough for you, though.

Another good recommendation for the Bradley Alias I here. Just bought one, and I'm glad I did!! Like it so much, I plan to buy a second to last the rest of my life. Just could'nt justify the cost of a Sebenza for myself, so I went looking for the alternative, and the Alias is it!!

I recommend you get a CRKT S-2. They have a titanium frame and an ATS-34 blade. They're very comfortable to carry and I've grown to really love mine. There are two sizes available, small and large. I have the large. Prices: $60-$80.

come on, man...if I can afford one, you can...
to be totally honest, nothing else really compares...
save up the paycash, get one, and use it... you'll be GLAD you did it.

I'm not sure I really buy that. The Sebenza is a very well made knife, but not mythical.

I say buy a Glock and spend the money you have left over on a Spyderco Native! That way you'll have a good gun and a good knife, instead of just a good knife.

Or you could get some ammo and a Byrd Cara Cara!

If you can't go the Sebbie.....

Benchmade ............... Rukus
Bradley ............ Alias
