Sebenza vs. Opinel?

Why would anyone buy even a Timex? Who needs a watch anymore? Everthing seems to have a clock these days. The microwave, the computer, the cell phone, the car, the GPS, the tv...... Spend the money on knives!

Amen to that! I'm waiting for that special Case CV soddie with the digital clock built into the yeller handle.

And, they may as well put an LED light in it also...and a corkscrew....

Does anyone ever actually USE the corkscrew that comes on so many SAKs??
I'm thinkin that anyone who actually drinks wine from a non-screwcap bottle is too sissy to carry a knife anyway. :)

Not a sodbuster, but...

Yep, I do and not only for removing the cork of a nice bottle of wine. Untying a knot by turning the corkscrew in it, keeping a piece of wood at certain height by turning the corkscrew in it and then put the knife on the floor, etc., etc. What a wonderful tool, isn't it? :)

I loved my opie. Too bad I lost it. It was a great slicer. Oh well, guys ill buy......3 more! YAY!

Can't really justify a sebenza, I can get like 2 SODs knife for the same price lol. But, Sebenza's are really nice indeed.

To me, I'd rather buy an opinel because I save like 300 dollars i can use to buy Bussekin knives :).

I love the design of the SEB and owned one...but... I don't need Titanium scales, a frame lock and the newest steel.

Might have known Vic would make a clock, BPPen, corkscrew knife!
Voyager 1.3705.VT3

If I ever become a French Officer, or need to untie really tight knots, I might get me one. :)

Seriously though (sorta):
Opinel? - I vote for the comment, made earlier, that a knife that's been around for more than 100 years has something going for it. I have a #8, and although it's too big to EDC comfortably, it's a great, sharp tool.
Kudos to the Opinel folks!
I'm thinkin of getting the Marjacq version: http://www.garrettwade.com/ebony-ringlock-knife/p/12K01ddd02/
Super spiffy!

Sebenza? - Probably not in this lifetime...my wife would kill me. :)

It has been nice to simply banter back and forth and follow the thread in any-which direction....without constant control.

Control!!?? We don't need no stinkin' control!!

Not to hijack the thread (is that possible?), but:

Does anyone have experience with the Marjacq version of the Opinel-type lock-ring knives??
